But can you tell me if Epub3 is common on Kobo? I see that some Android ereader apps can't read Epub3.
Of my 3 most recent kobo purchases, 2 are described on the site as epub3 (Adobe DRM), and I was able to view them in Adobe Digital Editions v3, a relatively recent version of Calibre 64-bit, and sideloaded to my GloHD. Perhaps publishers are not yet using elements in epub3 that would break these products? or there's a whole bunch of magic I'm not seeing? but none of these products/readers are exploding in my face as I load either of the two books in each one.

(NB I have yet to try them in FBReader, my Android reader of choice, and I actually should do that before I go too crazy blithely buying "epub3" from Kobo.)

If these ePub 3 don't work in FBReader, then it is FBReader that is the problem and not these ePub 3. These ePub 3 are not using anything special.

Thanks! Fbreader on their web site say they do not support Epub3.

Calibre says it doesn't support EPUB3 either, yet the one EPUB3 book I have works perfectly in the Calibre viewer.

That's interesting. Maybe it just can't support certain features of Epub 3.

That's correct. For epub3, calibre is probably ignoring the version and just treating it as an epub2. Then, if it works, everything is good. If it doesn't, will probably be the epub3 features. At the moment this is pretty safe. The few epub3 books I have, use none of the epub3 features.

That is good to know.
Thanks!
