I have been using bookerly on my Voyage since I got the update. My eyes are on the bad side and I need the contrast. But I have no issues with bookerly. Its a tad lighter than caecilia, which was the font I used before bookerly. I can't read with non serif like helvetica.
I don't really see a huge difference in darkness when I switch back and forth between bookerly and caecilia. At least not on my Voyage. But overall I like the look and layout with bookerly better. |

I also hope the Voyage won't be phased out. I've been thinking about it, but unfortunately it's still not internationally available, except in the handful of countries with their own Amazon store. No idea why. PW3 was available in my country (and most others) the day it came out, but the Voyage is not, even a year later. Needless to say, I'm more than slightly disappointed with Amazon because of this.

Voyage is not going anywhere. It's probably a nice money maker for Amazon. Also, it keeps their engineers from getting bored and bolting.

6 inch is pretty much like all the paperbacks I read. Paperbacks may be a little taller, but the width is just like paperbacks. I have way to many amazon books anyway to ever switch. I just like to deal with my books in the cloud, I only use calibre and alf for backup, not to read those books. But, I like that companies still make e-ink screens. That means they are still good business. As someone that cannot read from a tablet, that is good news. |

We are all immensely happy that you like your Kobo, Jon. Kobo makes a good Reader. However, this is a thread on the Kindle Voyage, so your post is inappropriate. The next off-topic post by anyone - after this Moderator's post - will be deleted. Don (Moderator) Last edited by Dr. Drib; 10-05-2015 at 08:34 AM. |

And I too hope that there will be e-ink screens for a long time, at least until we have that PixelQi screen (or similar technology) to replace it... (long battery life (measured in weeks), perfectly readable in bright sunlight and light) |

That very demonstrably is not the case and competing premium features that some readers want were on said other reader. Is it the intention of the moderators to ban competing premium features like waterproofing and larger Carta screens from Voyage discussions? Referring to the machine that has both of those features is less cumbersome than typing them out in every sentence. I understand the warnings when we all start sniping at each other or post links to dodgy sites, but limiting features we can advocate on an innocuous thread seems a bit much. |

The answer, BTW, is that no Kobo Premium readers have buttons, not even haptic buttons. |

I was told by someone from Kindle specialists team that the launch day would be October 26th, 2015 for "Voyage 2". It's the first time I'm quite excited and although I normally refrain from touch eBook readers, I might consider buying one. I wish V2 brings back audio book (unlikely for $$$ reasons!?)
One good thing about flush screen of Voyage is that I won't have to worry about rainy/showery days outside, and we gets lots of 'em here. Last edited by thatworkshop; 10-05-2015 at 04:32 PM. |

To keep my post on topic, I thought this thread was not about kindle voyage but whether or not new kindle will appear end of September? That, and the last sentence of Phogg's post.

There have been rumors of a new Voyage, with faster CPU, better screen refresh etc. but coming in November. We can debate the reliability of the sources of such rumors, but we will know soon enough if they are true (and only such a device would tempt me to replace my PW1). I don't think it is at all likely that either of the other Kindles would be replaced with new devices this year.
Even if the lower-cost Kindles are more popular, it's important for Amazon to have something at the higher price point, even if competition is more rarefied. I think they could even get away with keeping Voyage 1 (at a lower price point) in the lineup until they run out of stock. There will be plenty of people left who will want a V2 instead. |
