An increasing number of mainstream publishers are doing that, too! (Putting review puffs up front.)

There's one publisher (Simon & Schuster / Scribner) whose opening page is an invitation to sign up for the mailing list.

Well, of course not. What's the earthly purpose of blanks, in an eBook, when all the special sauce is about channeling the FEEL, without wasting the bloody space? There were reasons for blanks, primarily having to do with something appearing on a recto page (when the pages were flipped, mind you!)...that's inapplicable in an eBook, as most people read in portrait, single-page view, especially those poor souls reading on smartphones. Ergo...you don't need to force a flipped page to be recto, to ensure that it is seen by the flipper.

As it were.
