				New Features, Release: 2.39 [25 Sep, 2015]

			Hallo.

One of the new features is described as follows: Implement tag mapping to automatically filter/transform tags when adding books or downloading metadata Now you can create simple rules that will filter/transform the tags when adding new books or downloading metadata for books. To setup the rules, go to Preferences->Adding books and Preferences->Downloading metadata. Where is Preferences->Adding books and Preferences->Downloading metadata? |

Bernie, thanks for your prompt attention. And of course my criticism is not directed at you.

I have already often criticized (here and elsewhere): Inconsistent names. This procedure offers no benefit, however, but may contribute to confusion, especially to those little familiar in the matter. Metadata download Download metadata And the wording: Preferences->Downloading metadata More variations are hardly possible!? Granted, this example is not likely to cause a complete mess. Some of us think filtering out what we individually or collectively regard as meaningless or redundant tags is most beneficial, hence we welcome the new feature. BTW: the we I speak of is not the pluralis majestatis! It's the 15 or so members of my local library reading group who use calibre to manage their e-books! BR |

You've totally misunderstood the purpose of my thread. (Which is by no means to be explained by an incomprehensible language.) Just this: To the usefulness or uselessness of this feature I have not expressed myself, in no way. The pluralis majestatis (royal "we", or majestic plural for those who do not understand Latin) seems to have mighty impressed you. Anyway, it is still remembered.

@BR -- I think @chaot was referring to the "inconsistent names" that were the subject of the previous sentence.

![]() Granted, language barriers make it more difficult to communicate clearly -- wouldn't it be perfect if every country saw sense and standardized on English.

The 'real' subject of this thread is generally "inconsistent naming", as shown in post #3. Metadata download Download metadata Downloading metadata Quote:

American English, Australian English, New Zealand English or even that of the Queen, no. My Denglish! Edit: The previous post of @eschwartz and mine have overlapped. So his claim could not be considered by me. Last edited by chaot; 09-30-2015 at 12:23 PM. |

(Here already manifests a certain claim, read Denglish as Deutschenglish. It's not Genlish (Germanenglish). As Englishmen, so therefore the authors of all English, but descended from the Germans, it's probably called for hardly too much to consider the language of the ancestors still today. Add: Total clear: To speak correctly English English, you have to think and feel as an Englishman or Englishwoman, for American English as an American, etc. But if I now would like the finest of all English, then I should probably prefer the so-called Queens English. Do I then feel myself as a Queen!?

So with this new filtering, can one remove just empty divs?

The first is the name of the preference. The second is the name of a button. It is an instruction of what to do now and is correct in that place. There is no inconsistency between these two as they are describing different actions. The third come from the info on the new feature. It's an error. I'm pretty sure Kovid typed that from memory and got it wrong. That error demonstrates the possible inconsistency. If you look at the preferences dialog most of the preferences that are similar to the one for downloading metadata are express in that way. "Adding books" or "Saving books to disk". These read like "preferences when adding books". I would read the metadata one as "Metadata download preferences". It would probably read a little better on the preferences dialog if this was "Downloading metadata". |
