@arasyi: Thanks. Installed it on my H2O. Didn't notice any substantial changes yet...

How do you keep finding these firmware releases so quickly? Reverse engineered the protocol used to check for new versions?

Someone found the URL used for the check a while ago. I think they sniffed it from the traffic and then found it in the firmware. Then someone wrote the code to add to my Kobo Utilities so it can do the check.

The relevant code is:

"https://api.kobobooks.com/1.0/UpgradeCheck/Device/{0}/{1}/{2}/{3}".format(model_id, affiliate, current_firmware_version, serial_no)
The "model_id" is the last field in ".kobo/version".

The trick is to pick an affiliate that gets updates early. I've lost track of which this is now.

For me search function was broken on 3.17.3. Was I the only one suffering this ? Hope it is fixed in 3.18.0

How was it broken? The only issue I can think of is that under some conditions, the "Current read" book would be the wrong one. But, you could select the correct book with no problems.

I meant searching within a book. The result list will show up fine, but when you click on one of the results, the reader just sends me to the page I was previously reading. There's no way I can get to the search Falla, which is really really annoying.

I still have that issue in 3.18.0

Ok. No, I haven't seen that problem. I just tested searching in an epub and going to the results worked fine. I don't use the search that much, but I have been testing the recent changes and have seen any problems.

Problems like this are sometimes caused if you replace the book after it has been processed by the device and the file structure changes. If it is happening for a book you just added, that shouldn't be the case.
