I know the readers are very expensive and people want to protect them, but I thought one of the big advantages of a plastic substrate was that it wasn't as fragile as a glass one. Has anyone broken the substrate yet?

I think you'd have to fold the device in half in order to damage the substrate. However, given the price and the effort associated with obtaining the device I also go to fairly great lengths to protect it from damage or wear of any sort.

Considering my lifestyle, and as an engineer, my tech stuff has a rough life anyway. I try to minimize the damage that will happen eventually anyway.
This is a nice setup for me, and for $800, I have no plans on testing the bend-ability of this device :> Cheers, phil |

Hello, i`m from Chile.
Yesterday, I received my DPT-S1 from B&H. I have two questions: 1.- Can you see the folders created for the microSD card, in the DPT-S1?. I have many pdf; for better organization, the papers are in many folders, but when i see them in the DPT, they are outside the folders. I have the Onyx M96; the folders created in the PC are visible in the reader. 2.- It is advisable to buy a protective film for the screen? Sorry for my bad English. |

alonsoyanezm: I don't have a microSD card, so I can not answer your first question. I do not think a protective layer for the screen is necessary - at least not as far as wear is concerned. I write on the device daily and I have yet to find any marks left behind by the pen. Last edited by ManDay; 09-25-2015 at 01:25 PM. |

2. i don't use a protective film, and i suspect many other owners don't either. just be careful with it. you don't have to treat it like it's fragile. but just don't bang the screen on anything. it's plastic and it should be fine. |

In FOLDER you need to select the storage: microSD or Internal memory; you select microSD, and then you see the folders already created in the card. |
