The short version: I am a ListenerLight member. To prove that I am able to purchase the sale items at the sale prices, I just purchased one audiobook from the sale that I was sure that I wanted. If Audible people told you that you are not eligible, there is one of two things possible: the Audible people are mistaken or there was a glitch of some kind in which I was allowed to purchase even though I was not eligible. I think that it is the former, for reasons that I've already given in a previous post on this thread, shortly after the sale began. That, and the fact that Audible people don't always give you the right answer. I made pdf's of three webpages in the sale process in which I bought the $4.95 audiobook, including the receipt. I was planning on attaching them, but there is more personal information on them than I'm comfortable revealing to everyone. If either one of you would like the pdf's, PM me and I'll send them to you. UPDATE: I went ahead and finished looking through the list of audiobooks in the sale. I decided to purchase three more. The purchase was allowed. I haven't checked, but I assume that the audiobooks are in my library. Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 09-20-2015 at 12:06 AM. |

The #1 Seller in Westerns at Amazon--Audiobook, Ebook, & Sync'ing Only $6.48
Variety's the very spice of life,
That gives it all its flavour. --William Cowper (1731-1800)--"The Timepiece", The Task II, 1785, lines 606–7 No, William Cowper wasn't a cowboy (that I know of). I quoted him because he tells about the importance of variety; the desire for variety is one of the reasons that I am posting this Whispersync deal. This is the first Whispersync deal on a Western that I've posted (that I remember). Title: The High Divide: A Novel. Genre: Fiction (Western). Author(s): Lin Enger. Price: $6.48 ($1.99 ebook (marked down) + $4.49 Whispersync audio). Regular Price of Audio, by Itself, at Audible: $20.95. Ebook Rating/Number of Reviews: 4.4 stars/71 reviews (Amazon). Audio Rating/Number of Ratings: 4.1/10 ratings. Pages/Audio Length: 353/10 hours and 41 minutes. Narrator(s): Patrick Lawlor. Audible URL: http://www.audible.com/pd/Fiction/Hi...2642562&sr=1-1. Amazon URL (can get the whole Whispersync deal here): http://www.amazon.com/High-Divide-No...he+high+divide. Comments: #1 Seller in Westerns in both traditional books and Kindle ebooks, at Amazon. Book Description (Amazon): In 1886, Gretta Pope wakes up one morning to discover that her husband is gone. Ulysses Pope has left his family behind on the far edge of Minnesota’s western prairie, with only the briefest of notes and no explanation for why he left or where he’s heading. It doesn’t take long for Gretta’s young sons, Eli and Danny, to set off after him, leaving Gretta no choice but to search for the boys and their father in hopes of bringing them all home. Enger’s breathtaking portrait of the vast plains landscape is matched by the rich expanse of his characters’ emotional terrain, as pivotal historical events--the bloody turmoil of expansionism, the near total demise of the bison herds, and the subjugation of the Plains Indians--blend seamlessly with the intimate story of a family’s sacrifice and devotion. WHISPERSYNC DEAL ALERT . . . .
On the Non-Fiction thread, itisbomb posted Shooting Victoria: Madness, Mayhem, and the Rebirth of the British Monarchy (URL for the U.S.). In the U.S., at least, there is a WS deal on this ebook. Buy the ebook for $1.99 and you can get the audiobook & sync'ing for only $2.99 more! Total $4.98! Woo Hoo! I love it! There's lots of "bang for the buck" (for you in the U.K., "punch for the pound" (I just invented that, I may not be the first one to use it, though)) here, too. The audio's about 20 hours long! Audible Win-Win Sale, eat your heart out. ha! |

Pay Less than 1/3 of the Price at Audible for this Great Biography of Babe Ruth.
I've seen a lot of ebooks connected with Babe Ruth marked down in the last few days. Is/was there an anniversary (coming up) of some kind?
Title: Babe: The Legend Comes to Life. Genre: Non-Fiction (Sports/Biography). Author(s): Robert W. Creamer. Price: $5.98 ($1.99 ebook (marked down) + $3.99 Whispersync audio). Regular Price of Audio, by Itself, at Audible: $19.95. Ebook Rating/Number of Reviews: 4.4 stars/111 reviews (Amazon). Audio Rating/Number of Ratings: 4.0/32 ratings. Pages/Audio Length: 468/13 hours and 14 minutes. Narrator(s): Tom Parker. Audible URL: http://www.audible.com/pd/Arts-Enter...720752&sr=1-11. Amazon URL (can get the whole Whispersync deal here): http://www.amazon.com/Babe-Legend-Ro...2720984&sr=8-1. Comments: Book Description (Amazon): The life of baseball’s grandest figure, told in extraordinary detail Nearly a century has passed since George Herman Ruth made his major league debut, and in that time millions of words have been used to describe baseball’s greatest hero. But for a man like the Babe, for whom the phrase “larger than life” seems to have been coined, those millions of words have created a mythologized legacy. Who was the real Babe Ruth? Relying on exhaustive research and interviews with teammates, family members, and friends, historian Robert W. Creamer separates fact from fiction and paints an honest and fascinating portrait of the slugger. This is the definitive biography of a man who was, in legend and in truth, the best who ever lived. No, it's not just books about Babe Ruth. I see a lot of books about different topics connected with baseball. There must be an anniversary of some kind. I don't think that it could be to mark the beginning of the World Series, because that's over a month away from now.

WS Deal on Linda Lael Miller's First Book of the Parable Series for Cheap--$4.98!
The fantastic price is due to the convergence of two factors: the ebook is currently marked down and the regular price of the Audible narration for it is only $2.99, which is much, much lower than the price of the Audible narration for most of her Kindle ebooks--$12.99. If you haven't read any of the Parable Series, this is a good opportunity to introduce yourself to it.
Title: Big Sky Country (The Parable Series). Genre: Fiction (Western Romance). Author(s): Linda Lael Miller. Price: $4.98 ($1.99 ebook (marked down) + $2.99 Whispersync audio). He was never acknowledged by his father…until now. Suddenly, Slade has inherited half of Whisper Creek Ranch, one of the most prosperous in Parable County. But Joslyn has come home to Parable under difficult circumstances. Resented by many of the townspeople cheated by her crooked stepfather, she's trying to rebuild her life and repay everyone who lost money because of his schemes. With a town to protect, plus a rebellious teenage stepdaughter, Slade already has his hands full. $5.98 Whispersync Deal on this Biography of "England's Mistress."
Look, folks, I'm not interested in doing anything to glamorize adultery, but I don't think that you'll go away from listening to this audiobook (or reading the ebook) about the life of this woman with a more favorable view of it.
Title: England's Mistress: The Infamous Life of Emma Hamilton. Genre: Non-Fiction (Biography). Author(s): Kate Williams. Price: $5.98 ($1.99 ebook (marked down) + $4.99 Whispersync audio). Regular Price of Audio, by Itself, at Audible: $23.95. Ebook Rating/Number of Reviews: 4.4 stars/39 reviews (Amazon). Audio Rating/Number of Ratings: 4.0/92 ratings. Pages/Audio Length: 432/15 hours and 1 minutes. Narrator(s): Josephine Bailey. Audible URL: http://www.audible.com/pd/History/En...2819763&sr=1-1. Amazon URL (can get the whole Whispersync deal here): http://www.amazon.com/Englands-Mistr...+Emma+Hamilton. Comments: #1 Kindle seller in United Kingdom historical biographies & memoirs. #2 Kindle seller in Italy & Rome historical biographies & memoirs. Book Description (Amazon): She was the most famous woman in England–the beautiful model for society painters Joshua Reynolds and George Romney, an icon of fashion, the wife of an ambassador, and the mistress of naval hero Horatio Nelson. But Emma Hamilton had been born to the poverty of a coal-mining town and spent her teenage years working as a prostitute. From the brothels of London to the glittering court of Naples and the pretentious country estate of the most powerful admiral in England, British debut historian Kate Williams captures the life of Emma Hamilton with all its glamour and heartbreak. In lucid, engaging prose, Williams brings to life a complex and intelligent woman. Emma is sensuous, generous, artistic, at once shamelessly seductive and recklessly ambitious. Willing to do anything for love and fame, she sets out to make herself a star–and she succeeds beyond even her wildest dreams. By the age of twenty-six, she leaves behind the precarious life of a courtesan to become Lady Hamilton, wife of Sir William Hamilton–the aging, besotted, and probably impotent British ambassador to the court of Naples. But everything changes when Lord Nelson steams into Naples harbor fresh from his triumph at the Battle of the Nile and literally falls into Emma’s adoring arms. Their all-consuming romance–conducted amid the bloody tumult of the Napoleonic Wars–makes Emma an international celebrity, especially when she returns to England pregnant with Nelson’s baby. With a novelist’s flair and an historian’s eye for detail, Williams conjures up the world that Emma Hamilton conquered by the sheer force of her charisma. All but inventing the art of publicity, Emma turned herself into a kind of flesh-and-blood goddess–celebrated by wits and artists, adored by thousands, and, for a time, very rich. Yet Emma was willing to throw it all away for the man she adored. After four years of archival research and making use of hundreds of previously undiscovered letters and documents, Kate Williams sets the record straight on one of the most fascinating and ravishing women in history. England’s Mistress captures the relentless drive, the innovative style, and the burning passion of a true heroine. From the Hardcover Edition |

WHISPERSYNC DEAL ALERT . . . WHISPERSYNC DEAL ALERT . . . WHISPERSYNC DEAL ALERT
ATDrake made a post (in the second tier, below) a little while ago on the ebook Trophy Child: Saving Parents from Performance, Preparing Children for Something Greater Than Themselves by Ted Cunningham. The ebook is free at the present time. You can add Audible narration for only $3.99 (the regular price, I'm sure). Total for the whole Whispersync deal, then, is $3.99. The price for the audio, alone, at Audible is $16.95. http://www.amazon.com/Trophy-Child-P.../?tag=mr060-20. Thanks, ATDrake. Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 09-21-2015 at 06:55 PM. |
