A pity. It's really a great and inexpensive phone, but their response to the stagefright vulnerability is definitely less than impressive, especially considering how long it's been since Google first released a patch.

Well so much for the chicken fried steak I had planned. The meat smelled odd so I will let the hubby look at it before doing anything with it.

Sorry to hear you're having a rough weekend, poohbear. I just hate when the weekend starts like that, and you just know it's going to go downhill.

I'm exhausted, and all I did was make a batch of sausage, start 2 sides of bacon in the cure, and cook dinner for my sweetie who came back from a week visiting relatives. Oh, and putting in an LED string of lights under the cabinets in the kitchen. But really, I shouldn't be this tired.

Snivel ... I got my flu vaccination shot today ... and now I'm not feeling very well ... I always get, in addition to a sore wing, a low grade fever, aches & pains, sniffles, etc.

Sigh ... it's better than the full size flu ... I hope the 'experts' got the mix right this year ... *choo!*

Bacon is easy if you have a smoker. Almost foolproof once you develop a recipe that matches your taste. I've been making my own for 8-10 years.

Bacon is cured and smoked pork belly. Your local butcher (or decent supermarket) can order bellies for you, and, of course, if you get your pork from a local farmer, there is one per 1/2 pig. Bellies run 7-9 lbs. I get two bellies, without skin, at a time, and cut them in half so that they fit in my smoker, and in the small refrigerator I use for my curing projects.

Cure in mix of 500 gms dark brown sugar, 200 gms coarse salt, 50 gms cure #1, and 50 gms of crushed black pepper. Rub into the bellies thoroughly. Dredge every 2days until cured. (7-10 days) Cold smoke for four hours, then hot smoke for an additional two hours. Finish by heating slowly to an internal temperature of 152F.

Adjust mix of salt and sugar to taste, the pepper is optional, and the smoking times are to taste as well. But this is what works for me. Try maple syrup for some of the sugar, and change the flavour profile by the choice of smoking wood. I use hickory (strong, emphasizes the pepper), or Apple (for a sweeter, more rounded taste.)

Well, my shiny new (less than a week old) $7,000 solar hot water system gave me a TEPID shower last night. I went out and checked the temperature in the tank and it was 80 degrees F! Since the air temperature was 82 I was a bit disappointed, especially after a beautiful 87 degree sunny day that should have been heating the tank all day!

Just have to wait until HiPower Solar opens this morning to give them a call and say "HEY! WOT'S UP WI' DAT??!!" (that's pigeon for "What is up with that?".

Well, Mario the solar guy was out last night, and sure enough da buggah was wired wrong. I'll know in a couple of days if he fixed it, but I think he did.
