At any rate, I can up the font on the electronic version of Three until I can replace my eyeballs, and I am almost done with that.

Really only read the Sharpe books, and only some of them. But I've enjoyed them, except for a couple of the very first, chronologically, that were set in India. They were less satisfying, somehow.

Finished Three; I'm a bit ambivalent with the ending... everything was tied up nicely, and then they threw out teasers for potential follow-on books. Almost Hollywood the way they did it. I began the next Honorverse book, Ashes of Victory. I try those Robin Hobb books I got a couple weeks ago next.

... oh, like anyone cares, got my glasses fixed: the frames only cost $9 so I went to the shop, and had my lenses placed into a new frame. Beats another trip to the optometrist for a new prescription.

I re-read "Dirty Job" and just finished its sequel, Secondhand Souls. Christopher Moore does make me laugh.

I am trying to decide what to read next. I'm having a hard time right now on a number of fronts so I may want to re-read something. I'm thinking either "Jonathan Strange" and/or "Hitchhiker's Guide." However, I do have a couple of eBooks from the library and some "Kindle Unlimited" books I got, included some Octavia Butler, who I've been meaning to read.

Another very good issue. I don't know if it's chance or the new editor, but I've like the last two issue very much.

Next up: Jeremy Poldark by Winston Graham. The third in his Poldark saga, set in Cornwall at the end of the 1700s.

Still reading Echoes of Honor.

Now reading Death at Victoria Dock. Another new character, and lots of action.
Finished Death at Victoria Dock, and also The Green Mill Murder, #5 in the series. Next up is Blood and CircusesThis one has some differences from the TV series (they all do to one extent or another), since the only police Constable in the series is Constable Collins.

This is really the first time I've re-read this series, and I must say it holds up well. Ms. Greenwood sometimes has a bit of a problem with her endings, and tidying up all the loose ends can tend towards a bit forced, but that's really the only structural flaw. And the books are just such fun to read that I can't complain too loudly. A Highly Recommended series. (And, for those who prefer or at least enjoy audio books, the Audible versions of these are very well done and read by Stephanie Daniel.)

Just finished Ready Player One. Having been born in 1980 I loved all the references. Should make an entertaining Spielberg movie.

Now about 100 pages into The Deed of Paksenarrion by Elizabeth Moon.

Which? I do like Paksenarrion, but I don't think I've read Ready, Player One yet.

I borrowed the next Brother Cadfael book (The Hermit of Eyton Forest) from the library, so I'll be starting it very soon.
Almost a week later, but I'm finally starting to read The Hermit of Eyton Forest. That's because after finishing Jade Dragon Mountain, I picked up Fires of Invention by J. Scott Savage. I enjoyed it very much -- dystopian YA novel, very readable, interesting twist on a theme of a small community hiding themselves away underground when life on the surface becomes impossible. (Shades of Wool or The City of Ember.)

I finished The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu this morning, to restore my 100% record with Hugo winners. It was OK, but not really my kind of thing. Too much in the vein of Clarke and Asimov, with big ideas and not enough human drama.

I was intending to read The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson next, but instead I seem to have started Barbara Hambly's historical New Orleans mystery A Free Man of Color first.

Which was also excellent. A most enjoyable series, that I shall continue at leisure.

Then I read the latest LightSpeed Magazine, which was a return to form - much more enjoyable than last months.

And now I'm reading A Call to Arms by David Weber, Timothy Zahn and Thomas Pope. The second in their Star Kingdom of Manticore prequel series. Good so far.

[EDIT]
And good when finished.

Not sure what I'll read next. I do still have one book from 2005 to read - perhaps that.

[EDIT]
I'm reading an impulse freebie from earlier this year: Dying for a Living by Kory Shrum
