How can you tell that it's sarcasm?

If a moderator claims it is sarcasm, that means it is sarcasm.
MobileRead is not a democracy. Moderator decisions are final. If you feel you have been mistreated, you may of course comment/complain/observe/justify/ask for a refund in the Feedback forum. We use our best judgment to determine if something is a violation of the Posting Guidelines, and moderator decisions are not supposed to be undertaken lightly. If you can tell when you are being inappropriately sarcastic about other members, we can probably tell too. ![]() ... Now, is this all rhetorical because you are just going to continue debating what can and cannot be said? Because it seems to me that that is a topic which belongs in the aforementioned Feedback forum. Or was there something you wanted to actually discuss about the topic of the thread? eschwartz (Kindle Moderator) |

Actually, yes! But it seems that moderator notes in green boxes really killed the discussion. Unlike HarryT, I actually contributed some new information (see my post) and he then went on to derail the discussion. I actually think that he should not be allowed to post as a private person with mod privileges, where can I submit that feedback? There is really nothing “friendly and supportive” about rubbing commonplace knowledge into the faces of people (e.g. the thread starter) who are seeking to move beyond that commonplace knowledge and then screaming “violation” when someone does point that out (by a comment whose intention was just that, pointing out that HarryT was reiterating the problem as the solution).

If you have a problem with any post, you should click the "Report Post" button (the "!" button to the left of the post) to report it. That will bring your report to the attention of the moderating team. You should not discuss it on the forum.
I would note, though, that merely disagreeing with the content of someone's post is highly unlikely to receive a sympathetic response. You do not get to decide whether or not someone's post is useful for a discussion. Last edited by HarryT; 09-18-2015 at 04:55 AM. |

Thanks a lot for all the useful replies.
Reading the original PDFs on the PC of course always remains an option but then I won’t see highlighting and annotations made on the Kindle, as johnnyb also observed. Pity indeed that personal documents are not (yet?) supported in Kindle for PC, which is what I run, under Windows 8.1. Assuming I finally manage to copy documents manually (for the time being I can’t seem to find the target folder on the PC – any idea how to locate it?), would highlighting and notes then be visible in the app? Are they visible in the Android app? As for Bluestacks, I tried once (for different reasons) to install it on the PC but never got it to work the least bit, so that doesn’t seem to be an option unfortunately. |

As I said, the Android app should see your PDOCs.
As for Kindle for PC, I think/hope that once you manually copy it it will receive synced annotations. To find the folder where books are stored: Tools ==> Options ==> Content Default is: C:|Users\<username>\My Documents\My Digital Editions |

Apparently the app for Windows 8 doesn't store anything locally (?) but after installing the Windows 7/desktop version I can now see the contents, copy personal documents from the Voyage, and open them on the PC. Highlights and annotations seem to be lost though (see below).

![]() As for the desktop one not syncing, well, I assume you gave it time to sync... Sorry, I guess. ![]() It was a bit of a far shot, really. |

Also, give Bluestacks another shot! I tried it several months ago and couldn't get it to work on the Mac, and now it runs really well (and let's me review and copy annotations from my Personal Documents). Also, I have posted this already, there’s a little bit of hope that Amazon might enable PDs for their desktop versions, at least that’s what a CS rep told me ![]() |

Amazon processes books that go through their Personal Documents service, adding a special ASIN that identifies it as a PDOC linked to a specific account, and the annotations sync through that ASIN on supported apps/devices. It was to be hoped that Kindle for PC/Mac would request the annotations for that ASIN, even if the Cloud view didn't offer a way to download them. Apparently not. But it wasn't nonsensical to think it might work, and experiment to see if you get lucky. |
