Transworld is not Tor. They are the UK arm of Random House. When have you ever read/heard/seen any title from Random House be sold without DRM?

What matters is that no legal US eBook edition exists. If such did exist, Transworld would not be going exclusive with Amazon in the US and Apple would not be selling the same book(s) with a different publisher.

And finally, the UK covers are used on Amazon instead of the US covers and the cover on Apple was made in some image editor and is not a cover that would ever be used.

Give it up, there is no proof there are legal US editions because there are no legal US editions.

They just were published in the US in July or August. The publisher is listed as Transworld Digital. Transworld is the UK publisher that has had the paper and ebook rights for the Harper Hall series outside of the US for years. The books are using the UK covers.

If it's not legitimate, they are using the name of a publisher that's likely to have the rights.

Quozl by Alan Dean Foster is $1.99. Quozl was one of my favorites in paperback and it looks like Open Road is slowly picking up portions of Foster's backlist.

B&N Kobo Amazon

Open Road books are eligible for coupons at Kobo US.

There are things that should immediately raise red flags is that the first book in the trilogy is part of Kindle Unlimited and it's sold without DRM. These are two things Random House would never do. Also, Transword would not be selling it under their name as that's not the name used in the US. And also, the UK cover is used instead of the UK cover. So really, all of this adds up to a set of bogus books.

Titles included are:
Dead Until Dark
Living Dead in Dallas
Club Dead
Dead to the World
Dead as a Doornail
Definitely Dead
All Together Dead
From Dead to Worse

Cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse is no typical Southern belle. She can read minds. And she's got a thing for vampires. Which, in a town like Bon Temps, Louisiana, means she'll have to watch her back-and neck...

Cobweb Bride (Cobweb Bride Trilogy Book 1) by Vera Nazarian

What if you killed someone and then fell in love with them?

In an alternate Renaissance world, somewhere in an imaginary "pocket" of Europe called the Kingdom of Lethe, Death comes, in the form of a grim Spaniard, to claim his Bride. Until she is found, in a single time-stopping moment all dying stops. There is no relief for the mortally wounded and the terminally ill....

There are thousands of books out there with TOC's that don't include a link to copyright info.
Since it is in KLL, I borrowed it.

No copyright page and other info from UK edition (Also By, About the Author) is also missing. As is "about the book" preamble.

Missing "The End" line at end of book.

Formatting - has extra line between paragraphs (not so in UK edition). Better formatting in the Cast section, tho.

Completely different map.

Todd mentioned on his blog at least once that Transworld has the US rights.

I suspect, though, that this is a pirate using the correct publisher name to try to stay under the radar. Until I borrowed the book and checked in detail, I didn't see any red flags (drm-free, random house not listed a seller, missing sections, etc).

I'm currently on book 3 of this series, and just saw this thread. There are a moderate number of typos and misspellings present in the second and third books, if that indicates anything.

Anyone know what happens if they are a pirate copy? Do they disappear off my kindle and credit my account? Or do I keep them but they are removed from the website for future purchasers?
