Every coupon says "select list," because only some books are couponable. Take a good look at one of your contest emails.

Usually if something is really only available on the specific list of books they link to that's fairly clear (for Kobo) in the promotion, but even then it's always worth trying on books outside the list, as what Kobo meant to do and what they actually did are frequently not the same thing.

And other countries, those codes usually travel well to places like Afghanistan where -everything- is discountable.

I've got one 35% coupon, a bunch of 30% and a bunch of lesser coupons. Some of these did not work for me - YMMV. (Frustration? I haz.)

If you have success with any of the codes, please let me know. I am trying to figure out the pattern. (Other than "this is all part of Kobo's massive psych experiment.)

"PERKOPOLIS" is a Kobo coupon code that has been repurposed for a few different discounts over the last year or so. It's not a website or anything that you should need to join.

On the checkout screen, there's a box that says "Enter your promo code here" in faint, grey text. Type "PERKOPOLIS" or any of the other promo codes in that box to see if you get a discount. If one doesn't work, you can try more. Beware of hitting the ENTER key while you're typing, because that will complete your transaction in some browsers even if you haven't found a working coupon yet.

Fed up with Kobo's price rises and paltry coupons, I found a book on Google Books that was cheaper than Kobo even with my hard-won 35% coupon. So I tried my first-ever purchase from Google Books. Purchase went through, got the ACSM file, but no device or program would download the epub, not Sony Reader Library nor ADE: always "Network error; check your connection". I never once had this problem with Kobo. So, back to Kobo for me. Sigh... Anyone else have such an experience with Google Books?

What version of ADE do you have? Google needs to have the latest 2.01xx version.

Oops. Using 1.72. Retried with just-installed version 4.0.3 and it works. Thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll rely less on Kobo now, and feel less frustration in my life. Google Books from Hong Kong is like Kobo Hong Kong used to be: overall prices lower than Google Books USA.

Beware of using ADE 4 because you could possibly get hardened DRM. Stick with 2.0 if you want to be able to "Alf."
