That fits in with the way Amazon does business. By this time they have a good idea of how many people will actually take the credit for slow shipping.

You may be on to something. I ordered two products today - one book (well, comic graphic novel) and was not offered a credit. I ordered some nutrition products and got the credit. Both products were sold by Amazon. Likely they will offer it where the extra time is a financial benefit to them and not on other items. The offers on everything was likely used to determine how it would effect the shipping preferences of Prime customers on different types of products.

I'm in the UK and tried to order a jigsaw yesterday and had no choice in the delivery options, it was next day delivery only. That was using the main web page on my laptop. It was a different checkout page than normal.

I cancelled the order and went to the app on my iphone and was given all delivery choices including the no rush option with a credit.

Apparently time of day makes a difference. I tried to place an order last night about 1am, and was not offered the credit. I just placed the order now and was offered the credit.

I'm not sure there is any rhyme or reason to the whole no-rush shipping concept at this point. I ordered something this weekend and took advantage of no-rush shipping. Now I see that they really are in no hurry - I expect delivery some time around the end of October!

I have ordered a few $1.00 books in the past week, and was not offered the credit option.

Perhaps Amazon feels a credit would be like giving me the book for free!

I've only seen the credit offered on Amazon Prime purchases, where you are deferring shipping costs from free 2-day prime shipping to "whenever we feel like it" shipping.

It may also make a difference as to the seller (not just "fulfilled by"); some deals like this require Amazon to be the actual seller, as well.
