That price includes a special limited-time offer for you to choose three free Nook Books and three free Nook Magazines from a selection of titles, plus a $5 starter credit and free lifetime in-store support.

The device has 32GB of built-in storage and an expansion slot that allows you to add up to 128GB of additional space.

The 8-inch tablet hits Barnes & Noble stores today for $400, though if you've got a B&N membership you can also knock another 10 percent off that price. It's still sad to see the book seller move away from its own tablet hardware, but you could do a lot worse than the Tab S2. It's an incredibly thin and light tablet with a bright quad HD screen (our full review is coming soon). The Tab S2 Nook fills a premium slot for Barnes & Noble, whereas last year's Tab 4 Nooks are more budget-friendly at $150 and $250. You won't really gain much with the Tab S2 Nook variant -- you get three free books from a selection of 20 titles, along with three free magazines and $5 worth of credit. But really, it's a tablet meant for people who are more used to strolling around B&N stores than comparing Android tablets online.

AnandTech has a review on both the "C" & "CA" versions. Definitely must check them in person as the display doesn't do what it is supposed to do among some other items.

If the BN S2 has the same UI for storing books in that books from BN is stored in a separate place/library from books from non-BN books along different methods of access, then it would be troublesome. Haven't read how the Samsung Nook tablets stored it books....

I would really love an amoled screen tablet for night reading (even with screen dimming apps, normal lcds are too bright and bleed thru.

hope the s1 goes on clearance. maybe the nook one will too eventually

1. Lifetime in-store support provides assistance for setup, connectivity, and basic troubleshooting at Barnes & Noble bookstores.

B&N free lifetime support is very basic.

If you are going to do that I would just get me a tablet and add the nook app to it. But then again I would not get a Samsung tablet or another Samsung phone again. I cannot stay all of the bloat ware that Samsung and some of the other tablet company adds to their tablets. I also cannot read on a tablet screen if I am going to be reading really reading I have to have e-ink or paper.

I checked the review.
Sounds like it will be much better for reading than gaming or video, at least until they update the driver software holding it back. Not an issue for me since I'm not looking for anything but a reader or buying til the holidays after I see what everybody else is up to.

B&N showing their hand at $399 simplifies the process just a bit.

I was so excited as I was reading my email concerning this. All the wonderful descriptions... I thought, "finally, a new e-ink Nook." Then I scrolled down the email and saw the image. My heart sunk... another tablet.

It's a pass for me, again.

I bought the 10.5" S1 for $379 last year so it's not THAT good a price. It has an amoled screen and not a pentile, either.

He's not referring to the Samsung 8incher but rather the Zenpad S at half the price.

At a time when tablet sales are falling off, B&N has a more expensive "nook tablet". They should have stuck with their $50-$60 e-ink nook and stayed out of the tablet market. Plus they could simply improve their tablet app.
