I've got Win 10 running absolutely fine on an old Sammy netbook (a N150 Plus) it's actually faster on 10 than it ever was on 7 Starter.

I suspect that they are purposely obscure because bug fixes don't always take so, instead of saying "we fixed the xyz bug" three or four times until the thing is really dead, they keep quiet.

If you mean that choices are available more directly, then yes.
If you mean that you have *more* settings than through the control panel provides, then no. The "GodMode" is just a Control Panel split into its smallest parts.

I just got it running on an Acer 751h.
9 years old. Vista era.
Took the better part of two days sporadic attention because it was still running Vista. ("If it ain't broke...")
Most of it was letting Window 8 update. And update. And update.
Only issues were the expected: video and trackpad. For video it didn't recognize the chipset and was running generic drivers; installed the Win7 drivers with no fuss. The trackpad I did the usual fix: delete the driver and let it reboot. It came up with the same driver running properly.

Runs smooth as silk.
Office 2010 feels a bit faster and running multiple tabs in edge doesn't run the HD ragged.
Should be good for another ten years.
(Now to find a use for it.

)

I think we'll finally see the end of native XP now.
(Of course, it'll live in VMs for another century.)

I'm really surprised at how well it's running on older hardware TBH and fuss-free upgrade too. It seems that the more recent machines are the ones having issues

Those third party drivers.
Old stuff, the drivers are tried and true with 3-5 years usage.

Right now I hope the Win7 driver for the HP 5L works for me.

We need to see who can get it running well on the oldest hardware.
Given my experience I suspect somebody out there has an original Celeron running Win10.

Has anyone found a way to hide the email address from the sign on screen when using a MS account rather than a local one? Wanted to give Cortana a try, mostly for reminders, but I'm not really happy about having my email displayed like that.

I'd seen that but it's not brilliant as you then have to enter both your email and password every time, gets a bit tedious fairly quickly. I think I'll just switch back to a local account and ditch Cortana

That pesky nagware update "reminding me" to reserve my free W10 was re-installed a few days later by Microsoft (same update number), and I have uninstalled it again. Looks like MS have no intention of letting go of me.

I hate nagware. (Mumble mumble...)
