Try it and tell me the result. If it doesn't work, I think you have to modify the nightmode.ini. It seems to be explain here : https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=257246 . Last edited by akorx; 08-22-2015 at 06:28 AM. |

Probably you installed the build13 version in first page, not the build13H2O. 1. Download the file attached and install KoboRoot.tgz from install directory. 2. After the install, connect to PC and edit .kobo/nightmode.ini and look for in the brightness section and change these options to value shown Code:
[brightness] 1percentPatch = yes timeout = 4 100 = toggleNightMode |

Anyway it isn't working... I'm posting the .ini file in order to make sure I set it alright. I tried to set up 100% brightness and keep it for a 10+ secs but isn't working. [Image violates Posting Guidelines for size - MODERATOR] Last edited by Dr. Drib; 09-13-2015 at 01:07 PM. |

@4StarGen
If the install is correct, your ini file is also correct and it must work in all modern fw and models. Only for clarify, to activate you must open brightness and see the slide-botton on screen. Then touch it and go to 100% and without free, hold on 100% for 4 second at least. The screen must toggle to nightmode. |

I do understand that should work, there's no reason it shouldn't.
I noted I have fw 3.15, I should upgrade? I'm also italian, so I don't know whether the upgrade is available in my country |

It's report to work in all fw but in any way you can dowload any fw from here
For some unknow reason, something is wrong. I tell you make a backup of your books and do a factory reset and reinstall Nightmode. With GloHD the internal image is directly 3.15.0. |

For those who would think it's better to activate the "night mode" when light is 0% rather than when it is ON at 100%, just don't, I tried yesterday ![]() ![]() I think I will try to set this value at 5% ![]() Nico |

Good about 0% history. ![]() Well, I use 100% because I use many time low values (from 0% to 6%) so for me 5% (the one you try) and 3% (default in ini file) are worst for me. But the two main reasons to use 100% are because is a value that I never will use and because is too easy to reach and hold than any other value (it's located in a extreme of the bar ![]() Obiously anyone can use the value they want. ![]() |

Did this get borked by the most recent recent Kobo update? Haven't had my Glo long and it prompted me to do a system update so I did. When it was done night mode didn't work so I did the process over again of putting that night mode file (the one for 3.3) on the device, and it actually caused my device to do a factory reset.
Nevermind- not sure what happened but after setting it all back up again after it factory resetted itself, I put the file in that folder, it rebooted and night mode is back. Maybe I have sensitive eyes but the light on this thing at 0% is way too bright at night unless I do night mode. Last edited by Porthos; 08-25-2015 at 06:13 PM. |

Installed night-mode on Software version 3.17.3 18/Aug/2015
Just to let people know I installed nightmode from https://github.com/traycold/kobo-nightmode
The trick for me was realising that the on screen brightness/home buttons do *NOT* work. You have to set the brightness to the exact level defined in the configuration file extra/nightmode.ini (default is 12) to enable it. That is I assume because there is not a special hardware light/home button. A bit tricky with the slider but that worked! Great! Andrew Last edited by amw2; 09-06-2015 at 04:03 AM. |

Hi,
it was a little bit tricky, but now it works on my Glo HD, too. One thing to keep in mind is the option timeout = This is set to 7 in the default ini-file. This means, that you have to move the brightness-slider on the Kobo to the defined value (e.g. 3%) and wait for 7 seconds, before something happens. I think this is the reason for me to think that it wouldn't work, initially: I simply didn't wait 7 seconds. Another problem is, that it is very tricky to set the slider to exactly 3%. So I have defined multiple values to switch. Here are my brightness-settings: [brightness] 1percentPatch = yes timeout = 2 0 = toggleNightMode 5 = toggleNightMode 10 = toggleNightMode 100 = toggleNightMode Best regards from Germany, Heiko Last edited by john_j; 09-07-2015 at 03:40 AM. |

During the reading, you can switch between day & night mode just by swiping the finger to the top, at 100% light, No need to keep the light button pushed for a few seconds ! ![]() bye Nico |
