That is not happening to me. Once I've turned wi-fi off it stays off. It is just that I have to try a few times to turn it off after a sync because there doesn't seem to be any way to know when the sync has actually finished except to try and turn wi-fi off.

I don't turn WiFi off in the settings, usually. Even so, it does not connect to WiFi unless it actually needs something. And even while you have the browser open it will shut down WiFi after a short while (until you follow the next link).

@GeoffR: Yup, following the logs shows the usual syncing stuff keeping on trucking in the BG.

@frostschutz: Noticed that, too .

In 3.17.0 they fixed the ghosting from the homescreen tiles by refreshing the page when opening a book, but that fix seems to have been lost in 3.17.3.

I have seen this, so it's not your device. With my H2O even if I'm connected to my laptop with the Kobo provided USB cord the power button won't put it to sleep. It will however power it off if you hold it a little longer.

@robko: thank you very muck. I was quite sure it wasn't a problem of my device. I hope kobo will fix it, because this bug can be very annoying, expecially if you are not informed about it. I left my kobo all night long with 30% illumination on, thinking it was charging in sleep mode. It won't repeat, but I'm still worried about the stress of the battery.

I want to flow just like reading a real book. I could touch the screen 1 second before I finish reading the current page, but I shouldn't need to -- page turning must not be coded properly since I know it can be faster (it is faster when turning multiple pages).

I agree it is annoying and disrupts the flow; however, in a real book, I stick my finger between the next two pages a few paragraphs before I flip. Similarly, with the kobo, I tend to flip the page a few lines before I'm done reading. I've gotten use to doing this; sometimes it works, sometimes the page turns a fraction of a second before I'm ready.

It's not horrible for me, but it certainly would be nice if during the idle time while I'm reading the page, they could precalculate whatever they do during page flip so the actual page flip was instant.

Couldn't the device pre-render in memory the next page while the current page is displayed? As long as you don't flip pages continously, it should give a better experience. Disclaimer: I have no technical knowledge about any of this.

The "Computer connected" popup is drawn twice, first time a small window with incomplete image, then another time large complete image. Hard to make a photo of as it's only there for a fraction of a second... ended up using my stone age smart phone video camera

It was there in 3.16.10 and (I think) in 3.16.0.

I wouldn't worry that much about it. Given the difference in reading time with the light on and time to charge, the difference in total charge time is not going to be that great. OTOH, I agree it is annoying when that type of glitch occurs.

I had this problem after the firmware update to 3.17.3 on my Kobo Glo HD. (WiFi connectivity warning pop up even after disabling WiFi)

Drove me nuts overnight and this morning.

I then POWERED OFF the Kobo Glo HD (long press on the top silver button) and then turn it back ON and the WiFi pop window is no longer an issue. Make sure it's a POWER OFF/ON cycle and not just a SLEEP/ON cycle (short press on the top silver button)
