At some forums we have monthly comic reading challenges. Each month gets a topic/genre and a discussion thread. The unofficial goal is to read 100 qualifying books each month, but it's not a contest. Just a discussion and recommendation thread, and a way to encourage each individual to choose and finally read things that may have been in one's 'to read' queue for years.
