In my head I kind of know how long it takes me to read average size books. The time to read is pretty accurate in that regard. |

That information would never be any good for me, I vary my reading speed so much. For me it depends on what I am reading, how I feel about what I am reading, and how much my eyes are giving me issues. And then there is the fact that my wife is for ever doing things that distract me from my reading. My wife does not really like reading and she will do what she can to distract my reading.

Ah technology. It is amusing to see someone ask a question with an obvious answer: use a stopwatch, paper and pen.

Well, kindle shows me that I can finish a Frankenstein chapter in 1 min. Must be a bug. ^_^ Note: this book is downloaded from kindle store though it's not the most popular version which shows the right time.

![]() However I am not interested enough in this question to do such a cumbersome thing. If the information is available, fine. Otherwise I'll live without knowing. |

In order to fix this, try typing this in the search bar within the book you are currently reading: ";ReadingTimeReset" . You do need to include the ";" in front and it is case sensitive. Your reader will show no results found, but when you go back to your book you should see "learning reading speed" instead of a time left in chapter/book for a few page turns. Then after the Kindle has re-calculated your reading speed, it should show a more realistic time remaingin. |

I guess it is just me but I read for pleasure, I do not look at how long I take to read anything. I do have my voyage set to show me how much time I have left in a chapter but I know it will never be correct. There are times I read much faster than others. It all depends on what I am thinking about and what is going on around me.

![]() I don't look to see how long it takes me to read either. In fact, I don't know how long it has taken to me to read a book in my life... unless you count the school books where we had actual time limits. I do like looking at the About this book estimate to see if I have time for a specific book since the "pages" count is basically meaningless in a digital format and I can't see how thick a book is on the shelf. Protip for reading faster: only think about the book you are reading at the moment, nothing else in life whatsoever, and read in an artificial void where time no longer exists and distractions are impossible. ![]() |
