I wish Bookerly was a bit darker too. It's not very easy for the eyes to read, as it's so dim. Hope they'll improve on this.

No, he means the KT just like he said. It runs similar 5.x FW to the PW1. The new basic Kindle, sometimes called the KT2 has already got an update for the new typography.

KFX flags you can set in KFX_CONFIG (root directory, /mnt/us)
These are the defaults. You can turn on some debugging info that shows ram usage and timing, but nothing useful. Let me know if someone divines anything else useful out of this. [element] position_default_format = base64 position_provide_base64 = true position_provide_short = true position_provide_long = false compatible_mode = true [screen] ppi = 72 skip_dither = false use_8bit = false show_status = false [debug] disable_pagination_cache = false disable_large_section_fallback = false |

@Branch Delay - I just shared your post in this thread, where they are discussing reverse-engineering KFX. You may also find the Kindle Developer forums of interest. (Most of it is over my head, but you seem to speak their language

Sorry if I missed this, but has the PW1 received the typography update yet? If not, is it in the works?

As far as I know, the PW1 has no typography update and I don't know if it will have it one day.

the boiling frog must be an urban legend. I don't know if anyone has actually tried to slowly boil a frog, but I'm sure at some point the frog will jump out of the pan.

I agree--it would be nice if the Bookerly font were a little darker so as to provide more contrast. It would be nice if Amazon provided options to change the font weight on Kindles. Even if they offered only three different options (dark / middle / light) it would be great.

How about the new smart lookup? Is it useful?

It's as useful to me as the old dictionary. I don't really have any use for translating the word to another language and I will rarely go from the Oxford Dictionary to Wikipedia.
One caveat, I haven't really "used" the feature beyond looking up words. I probably won't either but others might. |
