Library on Passport
Hi All
Hope this is the right place to post this qustion. Running Linux Mint on a Acer Laptop. Recently changed from Win8 to Linux. Everything installed OK, but I do not want to install the thousands of books onto the laptop. I have the library on my USB Passport. When I try to Switch / Create Library the usb Passport doesn't show. Even logging on as root, it doesn't show. I can access the passport normally from my Group, so don't understand why the drive doesn't show. Admittedly I am new to Linux. Does anyone have experience with this problem ? Regards |

We have Linux users onboard who will know this answer better, but from my little exposure to Linux, I think you have to "mount" the Passport drive before it will be seen by the operating system (and therefore, by Calibre).

Hi All
Thanks for your response. The Drive is mounted and visible to every other application on the laptop. So, must be a Calibre issue. Regards |

Hi All
Thank you gbm, that worked. I was expecting to be able to navigate to my Passport and then to the folder Calibre Library. But it worked and that is what matters. Regards |

Yes, linux doesn't use Drive letters like Windows does. You should probably get used to looking for USB-attached storage in the /media directory.
Note: Many (most) file browsers will offer a bookmark to mounted drives, especially when the Desktop Environment-integrated file browser automounted the USB drive. ![]() calibre's builtin file browser is far more barebones though. |

Please use the forums correctly. Calibre questions belong in the Calibre forum, to where I'm now moving this thread.
