what I find disturbing with the front light, is that it looks like a phosphorescent light when it's on a low level. The eink seems to be transparent then. I wasn't expecting that.

If the screen actually looks illuminated, you probably have the light set too high. The light should improve the contrast of the screen, but if it's visibly "lit up", you have the light too high.

No, this happens when it's at a low level (under 10).

Harry T this is very much for you to answer. I now have the PW2, and I do love it and I read at least 5 hours a day seeing that I am retired, have serve hearing loss and TV is hard for me to understand. I am thinking about the voyage, well my wife asked me what I wanted for my birthday. Do you believe that the voyage is really that much better than the PW2 or even the PW3. I am not looking to get the 3G one I spend most of my time at home and have WIFI. I also like to side load my ebooks and edit out the mistakes and spacing issues if find.

I think it's better, personally The differences between the PW3 and the Voyage are:

Voyage is smaller, with a flush reinforced glass screen, compared with the recessed plastic screen of the PW3. Comparison videos suggest that the glass screen of the Voyage provides a higher contrast than the PW3.
Voyage has a metal body compared to the plastic body of the PW3.
Voyage has page turn sensors on the bezel, as well as a touchscreen.
Voyage has a light sensor which can, if you wish, adjust the light level automatically.

For me the Voyage is worth the extra price. Whether it is for you is something that only you can decide.

Thank you I am leaning on a possible voyage due to the screen glass and the flush screen. I am almost 68 and I do have issues with the old eyes. And I do love to read. Now one last question that is troubling me about the voyage what case do I want. I really like the Amazon case that I got for the PW2 and would like the same style for the voyage. I do not need the stand that Amazon is pushing for the voyage.

I'm afraid I can't advise you there. I really like the Origami flip cover. Josie is our Voyage case expert (I think she has seven different ones?). Hopefully she'll chime in and give you some advice.

I really like the flip cover that Amazon created for the PW2 and 3. I do not like the Amazon cover that Amazon recommends for the voyage. I do not want the stand and I really want it light weight.

I have of course the same problem than some of you (everybody ?) : The bottom side of the screen is whiter.

Last thing, I find the device too thin to hold it. I don't know how to explain it, but when I want to hold it with only one hand and use the haptic buttons with my thumb, it's not very comfortable.

I never tried reading it without a cover. First five minutes I had it I slipped it into the $10 cover I bought and never looked back

I have multiple cases

I personally like the book style cases similar to the PW officials but where both the top and bottom are left open. I had the Omoton case which went across the top and half the bottom but that was a nightmare to get the Voyage out of, I ripped the back off and threw it away.

I like Swess and Fintie the most. Swess cases can either be bought from Amazon or cheaper on eBay from local (I'm in the UK) or Chinese sellers. For example on Amazon it's £9.99, UK ebay seller 5.98, Chinese ebay seller 3.28. I have four Swess covers (don't ask) and I've bought from all three places.

Finite are from.Amazon and have some nice patterned ones as well as plain colours. It's a bit lighter than Swess but doesn't have the silver bar to open the case with like the Swess, I like that.

Moko do a full allround case, I've not had one from them for my Voyage, and after my experience with Omoton I would be wary, but Moko's quality Is generally very good so you might want to.consider them. I have Moko cases for my HDX 7, 9 and Surface

The origami is nice but for me it wasn't practical and since I bought my first Swess case I've not used any other make. I have Gold, Hot Pink, Blue and Purple,

The very thinest case is the Fintie, weight wise Fintie is 92gm, Swess 104gm and the origami is 139gm empty.

I agree. I have the mint colored Swess and a supcase. The Swess is my favorite. It increases the thickness just enough to make the Voyage easier to hold with one hand.

Just got a new Voyage myself and ordered a Fintie case with it. It's a very nice case. I might have to order a Swees case -- so I can swap the cases once in a while. The purple Swees case looks like it would match my iPad case, so I could be coordinated when I happen to have both my voyage and my iPad with me.
