It is possible that when the flap of the cover moves it can wake your device.
your option works good, or just put the reader off totally..

I received a Glo HD today and it updated mandatorily during setup, but it only updated to 3.15 OTA.
The funny thing is that I already own a H2O, updated to 3.16 manually following the instructions, and I'm very happy with it.
How comes that glo hd sticks to 3.15 officially? Does anybody know?

It don't, I received 3.16 more then 14 days ago, I think your Glo HD is on a slow affiliate.
You can change that by editing the affiliate.conf file, but I am to tired now (past bedtime and I am in bed) to find the settings, it was something change into best buy, maybe the search or another can help u,otherwise I search for u tomorrow.

When you connect your reader to the computer go to the drive that is your reader.
Then search in the kobo directory for a file called affiliate.conf
Open that with a reader like notepad ++
In that file is your affiliate, in my case kobo:
[General]
affiliate=Kobo

Change that in:
[General]
affiliate=bestbuyca

Save it,and from that time when you sync you get the latest firmware the most fast.

Works for me (just the KoboRoot.tgz, not the other files). But if you are using various mods, there are problems (anything stops or kills nickel, the device reboots). Mods will need to be updated to muzzle the watchdog that Kobo added in 3.16.10…

And before the conspiracy theories start that Kobo is trying to lock down the devices, the stated reason for this new functionality is so people don't have to physically reset if the device has an issue -- i.e. this is for the people complaining about what would happen if they didn't have paperclip with them to reset it with and it froze. As I understand it this is designed to automatically reboot the device if it runs into a problem. No idea if this is going to be an easy thing to get around for modding or not (I'll leave that to the experts ).
