A possibility to fix this is to remove some lines from the config file. The "Pocket" section has entries has entries for the last sync. Removing these might fix things. I would suggest removing everything except the lines for "AccessToken" and "Username". These two are the identifiers for you account. The rest seems to be recording details of the sync. Removing them on my Glo HD triggered a dowload of all the articles I have in Pocket.
An alternative is to sign out of the Pocket account, let the device do its clean-up, I would probably restart the device, and then sign in again. |

Thanks for your response. So the first thing I did was sign out of Pocket. When that didn't work I factory reset the Kobo, then I tried re-formatting the memory card, signing out and into Kobo again. Everything I could think of. None of which worked, so would it still be worth trying to edit the config file?
Saturnspike in an above post says that on a brand new device, he has the same issue. My feeling is a vast majority of Kobo users don't make use of the feature to this extent, or have a memory card inserted, so the issue isn't bothering most people. Nonetheless, it is a feature which is broken. I haven't tried downgrading the firmware yet, in the hope Kobo might help out, but I will do in a few days. |

Whether it's worth trying is really up to you. One reason to try depends on whether any articles have been downloaded or not. If none have been, I suspect this won't change anything. If some have been, it might trigger another batch to be downloaded. Whether this will be all of the articles or not, I don't know. And of course, it will only take five minutes to try.
As to a downgrade, if you think that it it worked in an earlier firmware, just do it. If this is a bug in the current firmware, it isn't going to be fixed until at least the next release. And that isn't due any time soon. And whether it is in that release will depend on it being reported, reproducible by Kobo developers and considered more important than other bugs or work they are doing. The more information supplied, the more likely this is to happen. A "Works in FWx.y.x but not in FWa.b.c" is much better than "it doesn't work". And I'm still trying work out exactly how many articles 5GB is. |

Haha, it's a lot. a few years' worth. It's because of all the pics, I'm only going off my iPhone cache so perhaps with Kobo it's less. I live on Pocket and with the Kobo it had saved my eyes!!!
You're absolutely right, thanks for the detailed thoughts. I will try the downgrade, it worked before. And more to the point, as you say, I can definitively let Kobo know now either way. There isn't any measurable difference for me between the new and old firmware in any case. Thanks |
