Amazon 20th anniversary sale coming up

Well this is annoying. I went to use my credits today on an eBook. It used my old credits (from $1 slow shipping), but it did not use any of the $6 I got on Prime Day from slow shipping. So those credits apparently aren't usable on eBooks.

I'm pretty ticked off now, especially since I spent quite a lot more than expected. Going to contact support about it.

You can use them on ebooks as long as they are sold by Amazon.

Yeah, but that applies to the older credits and Prime Day credits both. So part of them working, but part not is totally bizarre.

Support has responded, said it was a technical error, so it apparently should have been applied.

Either way, not being able to see if the credits will apply until after you've bought the book is stupid.

I hate 1click too for that reason. If it was an error, did they give you a credit for what should have been applied? I'll have to contact them as well since the old credit I had was applied to a book, but the new credits weren't. I thought it was a bug that the old credits were applied to big publishers.

They basically doubled my credit, adding $6 to it. Although this credit shows under Kindle Editions and Software/Video Games as well, when the other doesn't. (But to be fair, none of the slow shipping credits ever changed those, even though they worked on eBooks.)

It was that or return the book and get a refund. (Return here being losing access to it.) I decided the extra credits was the better option.

I haven't had any problem using the slow shipping digital credits from Prime day on ebooks. I've used about $11 worth of $15.

That's good to know, but I may just use my credits on music now, since that seems to be safer.

No. 1 was Ellora's Cave, 1 was Mythical Press, 1 was Sandal Press. All sold by Amazon Digital Services.

I contacted Amazon too and they said there was an open ticket for this problem. In my case $0.97 was applied and I had $13 left, but the remaining $1.02 was applied from my gift card. He asked a few people in his area and they were all stumped as to why some credits were applied and some not. He converted my credits to credits that could be used for anything digital or for physical items sold by Amazon. He also added $5 in credits.

Thanks Purple Lady for the info. Although my purchase wasn't on Prime Day, so I don't know if my $5 Pantry Credit, could be exchanged for a digital ebook credit instead. I thought I would be getting the usual $1 credit for slow shipping. And boy was it slow, to ship. But since it was after Prime Day Sales that's probably why it was so slow. Then I see the e mail for the credit and it was a $5 Pantry Credit. I don't really use the Pantry on Prime, and was kind of wondering what I would use the credit for in Prime Pantry. Maybe I should just call CS and see if they would convert the Pantry credit for ebook credit, even if it's $1 at least I would use it.

Sounds like Amazon managed to mess up the Prime Day credits too.

On the plus side, this is giving several of us what is basically bonus credits.

On a totally unrelated note, bought some subs for Mom and myself yesterday and they couldn't get their register to work. It just would not send the credit card charge through. Swiped okay and everything, it was their register's fault. Girl finally gave up and just gave me the subs for free since it was their fault.

I just bought an ebook sold by Penguin and the credits weren't applied. I am currently on the phone with an Amazon rep who says the credits can only be used for physical items. I can see on Amazon that the credits are good for digital items. This is beginning to rival Kobo CS.

I had a similar problem with a Penguin title in the last week: my old credit (before Prime Day) counted for part of it, but the rest came off of my gift card total. It seems if the price is being set by the BPHs these credits no longer work. They still seem to work fine for other books, videos, or music. Just damn frustrating, especially if you are using 1-click.
