Issue with CC Cloud and Custom columns

I just realized something.

If you transfer a book via Calibre Cloud, then calculated custom columns are not populated on CC. I assume that this behavior if because the custom columns are not stored in the metadata file, but it might be worth making a note of that somewhere.

Good point. Thanks for mentioning it. You are correct: the values for composite columns are not in the database.

I added the following FAQ entry
Quote:
When I look at book details using the cloud connection my custom columns "built from other columns" are missing. Why?
Quote:
The values for custom columns "built from other columns" are not stored in calibre's database, Instead, calibre computes them when needed. CC does not contain calibre's template processor so cannot compute them, with the result that the values are empty.

For the same reason the values for these columns will be missing in CC if you download the book using the cloud connection. The values will be populated the next time you connect as a wireless devlce.
