@GoSharks: That... sounds like the rendering of the PI banner crashed. Which has happened in the past, usually for some stupid reason...

I'll see if I can replicate this on my end, don't hesitate to remind me of that if it slips my mind!

@NiLuJe: Books are both azw3 and mobi, personal-info-watermark I tryed with setting enabled or disabled - always "failed to extract cover"

Hmm, works for me... I did update the snapshots though, so, try with the latest?

I doubt your personal info section contains anything remotely weird, but, on the off-chance, try with something simple? (FWIW, I did my tests with simply an email address in there).

On a related note, 5.6.1.1 is *super* finicky on my PW1...

(A look at dmesg is super fun: someone didn't think the toolchain upgrade completely through on old hardware... ^^)

Used latest snapshots as of yesterday (24 hours ago).... nothing funny in personal info other than name and phone #. I'll play with it some more today now that I'm in better humor

Scratch my 'super finicky' comment, it's just plain buggy as hell here. Opening a book leading to a blank page, UI freezes, unresponsive UI elements... Did a Kobo engineer sneak into lab126?! (Oops, that was mean, sorry

).

@GoSharks: I updated them a few hours ago, and I'm currently pushing another release right now.

I'll wait a bit then... Played some more and it is definitely a problem (on mine) when personal info watermark is enabled. Not only will SS hack not render a new cover image, it also will only show the last successful cover image (without PI overlay) even when opening books with a previously successful cover image. Also the UI is really slow and the screen will blink several times after selecting something before actually doing anything. These issues all resolve when PI watermark is turned off....?

@GoSharks: Ah, then that sounds like the watermark generation is spinning at 100% CPU... Which shouldn't really happen, but, meh. It should at the very least have been time-limited like the cover generation, but I apparently forgot, so, I'll take care of that, at least.

FWIW... I just tried the PI watermark on my PW2 (FW 5.6.1) and have the exact same issue. Beginning to think it's me... but two different devices, two different FW's and 2 different versions (different updates also) of the SS hack? Kind of weird....

Do the books actually have a cover?
(In book listing on Kindle, long touch on book, then "go to" -> cover).

Meh. (Stupid) bug most likely identified, it's in the process of getting squished... I'll post an update once the snapshots are done

The good news is: it was stupid (incomplete rpath). The bad news is: it's been broken for quite a while (unless you happened to have the fonts hack installed, even inactive, which is why I couldn't reproduce it on my end).

Didn't I post a binary of patchelf?
No? Want one? x86 or amd64?
(It will, among other things, re-write rpath of a binary for you.)

, but I took the opportunity to update some stuff while I was at it, so, full rebuild ;p.
