error loading module 'liblipclua' after 20150407
Hi,
Today I tried to update my oldish version of KOReader (haven't updated since December) on my PW2, but after the update, when I use any of the KOReader options from KUAL, I get "Starting KOReader..." and that's it. The error seems to be: ./luajit: error loading module 'liblipclua' from file '/usr/lib/lua/liblipclua.so': /usr/lib/libgthread-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_thread_gettime stack traceback: [C]: at 0x00042519 [C]: in function 'require' frontend/device/kindle/powerd.lua:14: in function 'init' frontend/device/generic/powerd.lua:16: in function 'new' frontend/device/kindle/device.lua:158: in function 'init' frontend/device.lua:38: in main chunk [C]: in function 'require' frontend/ui/uimanager.lua:1: in main chunk [C]: in function 'require' ./reader.lua:91: in main chunk [C]: at 0x0000be95 I went back through the nightlies and came up with the last working version, which is 20150407, i.e. 20150414 no longer works and returns this error. Any advice? Thanks! |

@otichy: Wild guess: Your PW2 is running FW 5.6.2.x?

Most likely:
/usr/lib/libgthread-2.0.so.0 See if that is still there, by that name, in your new firmware release. Note: If you haven't done it already, make sure that your jailbreak survived, that MKK survived, etc..... All of those things we have been telling people blown away by the OTA update these past weeks. |

Given the fact that liblipclua is part of the FW, and so is glib, an undefined symbol when loading this pains me, since, under normal circumstances, that would basically wreak the whole (default) UI.
What most likely happens is, KOReader already bundles a copy of glib, and that copy might be ABI incompatible with what liblipclua expects, and that this would be a new behaviour, stemming from FW 5.6.2.x. Given my experience with 5.6.1.1 on my PW1, I'm not volunteering to move my PW2 to 5.6.2.x to check this out, so, good luck? ![]() Last edited by NiLuJe; 07-26-2015 at 07:40 PM. |

Thanks to both of you!
I am sorry I am unable to completely retrace what happened, but I was one of the victims of the last OTA, however, I was able to recover KoReader functionality (and block future OTA updates) thanks to some tip/exploit in this thread or in the JB thread (maybe because I haven't restarted after the OTA? or something like that). Anyway, it seems the JB is intact, since I can run terminal and when I do su, I am root. /usr/lib/libgthread-2.0.so.0 is still there, actually, there are three similar libs: libgthread-2.0.so libgthread-2.0.so.0 libgthread-2.0.so.0.2918.0 I am not really desperate or anything, since the last version of KoReader I am able to run works very well, but I'd be happy to update to the latest version and also perhaps help future users with 5.6.2.x Therefore - is there anything I could try? |

Now I remmember, it was NiLuJe's JailBreak-1.14.N-FW-5.6.x-hotfix.zip package that got the JB and KoReader back for me. Thanks

Hi all,
Does koreader support RTL languages, Hebrew in particular? I googled quite a bit and I saw some posts saying that there is support for RTL mode (mode, not languages?). Some other posts say that RTL is not supported cause CREngine missing it. KPV was based on mupdf - may be it supports RTL languages? I found this list of apps supporting Hebrew: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=105910 but koreader/kpv is not mentioned there. Actually I'm looking for open source ebook software for Kindle eink to read Hebrew. Seems that fbKindle (port of FBReader on QT embedded) could handle it, but links to source code are broken. Source code for koreader is in perfect condition, but it's not clear if it supports RTL. Please advise, Mike |

RTL is supported quite well, I think. I'm not sure as I don't have any idea what it means in Hebrew )
Here how the book part from an article you've send looks: ![]() ![]() ![]() P.S. Now I see I've checked, and it shows wrong. Sorry to bother, you can ignore my post, ask developers or create an issue on github. ) P.P.S. As I see even based on my assumptions it does not look RTL, just LTR with to-the-right-side alignment, so RTL might not be fully supported. Last edited by Dr. Drib; 09-02-2015 at 06:12 AM. Hi Dexmaster,
Thank you a lot for the testing and feedback. From info I googled here in the forum, RTL is not supported in KOReader because CREngine doesn't support it. Here's a ticket in CREngine bug tracker: http://sourceforge.net/p/crengine/bugs/32/ Obviously there's no plans to support RTL in Cool Reader, and it means KOReader won't support it too. This is how I understand the situation. |

Hello everyone!!
I recently got a Kindle 5 (touch) and have been using koreader (latest stable build) from day 1. I think it's amazing especially for how it handles pdf and for giving the possiblity to read ebooks that are not .mobi! I have a couple of questions:
Thanks again for the great work! Ciao ![]() |

There does not seem to be a Lua binding for that, see:
https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/web_api/v3/start (KOReader is mostly implemented in LuaJit). You want to write that binding wrapper for us? Contact the KOReader project people directly through their public repository. Here is the (or your) starting point: https://github.com/zotero/zotero or maybe better: https://github.com/zotero Last edited by knc1; 09-08-2015 at 11:11 AM. |
