And I am sure I will enjoy 52; it looks great, and I look forward to reading it. Thanks again!
Honestly, I'm pretty confident that you'll probably like it a lot. It's a surprisingly fun and touching book that's a relatively easy to read for newcomers (after years of reading/watching the DCU, I still don't really know the backstories of most of the characters I was introduced to in 52, but I think I "get" who and what they're about and felt sorry when bad stuff happened to them and would have liked to read more about many of them*, which is a mark of quality storytelling, IMHO), with lots of extra little cool things for long-time fans and re-readers as well. The offer was on the off-chance it turned out to flop for you, which is a low possibility that could still happen (and if it does, at least you'll know that your tastes don't fit with my recommendations in the future, which should become helpful anti-recommendations ).

Anyway, I think I should remind people that the following bundles are expiring soon, if you haven't already decided whether or not to pick them up:

The Dynamite Comic-Con Omnibus Bundle is good for another 3 days or so.

Humble Gamer Comics Bundle presented by Dark Horse Books added another artbook and an interesting-looking based-on-Japanese-mythology comic to the more-than-average tier, and expires Wednesday at 11 AM Pacific Time.

* Especially the ones who had bad stuff happen to them which precluded their ever appearing again as they previously were short of a retcon, darnit!

New Humble Bundle is up, and it's for:

Humble Book Bundle Made with Kickstarter, containing lots of graphic novels that are Exactly What It Says In The Title, including contributions by Ryan North of Dinosaur Comics webcomic fame. There's also some non-GN fiction, including sf/fantasy novels by Harry Connolly (ISFDB) et al..

It's a 2-week bundle with a $15 top-tier, and current average is just under $7, but will probably fluctuate for the next couple of hours.

Quote:
Name your price for To Be Or Not To Be, God Hates Astronauts, Imagined Realms Book 1, Hollow World, and Help Fund My Robot Army.

If you pay more than the average price, you'll also get The Big Feminist BUT, A Hero at the End of the World, The Great Way Trilogy, The Sleep of Reason: An Anthology of Horror, Steampunk World, and Nightmare Magazine #33.

If you pay $15 or more, you'll receive all of the above plus Code Monkey Save World, Ava's Demon, The Warden and the Wolf King, and MOTHER RUSSIA.

The week long DC sale in on Vertigo's Fables and related series; cheapest to complete with the collections, and all singles at $.99 each. I'm tempted to go all in on these and sell my trades.
Forty collections at $4.99 each, although one is a crazy $.99 instead of $11.99.
Fables 1-149

Jack of Fables 1-50
Cinderella: From Fabletown With Love 1-6

They read my letter in this week's Comixologist podcast! I feel guilty giving out the code now, so listen to it, it's a really neat podcast even without me.

Submit code this week is ENORMOUS for 50% off the neat kaiju series Enormous. I think issue #1 was free in the past, so you may own it.

Congratulations!

A few more Comixology freebies from Marvel (maybe repeats) that showed up when I went to the standard Free Comics page and did Add All to Cart:
  • Ultimate X-Men #1
  • Fantastic Four: Books of Doom #1
  • Fantastic Four: The End #1
  • Avengers: The Initiative #1

Also, the Humble Bundle Tales from India featuring Grant Morrison and Stan Lee, which ends this Thursday at 11 AM Pacific Time, added 3 more titles to the better-than-average tier, including another Grant Morrison GN Dinosaurs vs Aliens, which on principle looks pretty cool, because dinosaurs and all.

I had a peek inside the 18 Days illustrated scriptbook at the top-tier level, and it seemed a pretty nifty look inside Morrison's creative process for those who, like me, are suckers for behind-the-scenes making-of stuff, since not only is it the scripts and such, but also his commentary on the characters and setup and what he's trying to accomplish with the story and setting.

Apparently you can watch a bunch of animated webcomics adaptations of Grant Morrison's 18 Days series on YouTube for free via the publisher's official channel: linkage to their dedicated promo page with some introductory clips, and their actual YouTube channel with all the episodes, as well as an adaptation of another series not in the bundle, Devi, and promo clips by Stan Lee & Grant Morrison & Deepak Chopra for the bundle.

The other Humble Book Bundle Made with Kickstarter, which is good until next Wednesday, added 2 more GN titles (plus some sfnal text anthologies) to their middle tier, one of which is an indie superhero-looking comic, and the other of which is a practical non-fiction on frugal living for urban/suburbanites, which paradoxically looks like the more interesting on the two (but then I'm a sucker for how-to guides done in comic book format).

Last edited by ATDrake; 07-22-2015 at 11:40 PM. Reason: Turns out it's not interviews, just promo stuff, but it's nice that they took the time to record them.

^ Thanks for updating those freebies ATD. It's hard for me to know what's newly free since I own pretty much every Marvel #1 from their earlier promotions. But good tip, I often just hit 'add all' on that page just in case they slipped in something new.

And as always, if anyone wants a quick jumpstart on their digital comic library, there are hundreds of freebies spread throughout Comixology. Just do different searches for 'fcbd', 'free', 'promo', 'sampler', 'preview', and 'peek' to find most of them.

Congrats!

I listened the first 20 or 25 minutes and they haven't read any letter so far (unless I missed it; I was doing other stuff at the same time).

I guess this is old news as it has been on sale most of the summer, but I just noticed it: Pandala, Vol.1, which is part of the Ankama promo, has no dialogues at all, so, although it is listed as French, it actually can be "read" by anyone, as there is nothing to read, except a rather unnecessary prologue in which the author explains that this comic does not use dialogues, so you the reader have to use your imagination (or something to that effect). Well, since it's currently 1 euro (or 1 dollar, or whatever), I thought someone might like to check it out.

By the way, I still haven't read any of the DC comics I purchased recently. I took advantage of that Marvel Unlimited offer (1 penny for the first month) and it looks like this month I will be stuffing myself with Marvel comics.

That Oni Press sale is good on everything they publish, not just the 17 featured series. Almost all of it is tempting me.

Thanks. My little letter is read at about the 27 minute mark.

Thanks for the Pandala tip.

Looks interesting, and if all of it was on sale I'd probably take the plunge.

And good call on getting your money's worth out of MU while you have it.
