Of course, they stay in good shape if you don't use them much.

Well if you use them too infrequently, the dust buildup in the carpet can damn near kill them. Especially more modern ones with all the filters in them.

I also particularly like how the reusable filters you're supposed to wash out and let air dry end up stinking no matter what you do. Have to vacuum up a bunch of baking soda to make it stop. I think I'd rather buy new filters...

Well, I will let you know. I ordered one. It is going to be used for a phone. But I feel certain that by "activation", they mean "registering with Amazon". The free year of Prime is tied to the unit, not the phone contract, I believe.

I feel certain that these are the original locked contract models, which Amazon no longer has for sale (last time I checked). I think this seller bought them all and are liquidating them. That's why they come with the "unlock code."

From Amazon:

Prime membership benefits are applied during registration of your Fire phone. For online purchases on Amazon.com, registration occurs typically when the device is shipped, unless it is marked as a gift. For gift purchases and for purchases from authorized resellers in the United States, registration occurs during device setup. Once your Amazon.com account is registered on the device, membership is effective immediately. You will receive an email as confirmation that Prime benefits have been applied to your account.

Prime is activated immediately upon registering your Amazon account with your Fire device. This means that the first time you set up and use your Fire, Prime will be activated as a result.

I too have a (Hoover) cannister vacuum from 1985! I don't like messing with the bags, so I don't use it much either.

My instincts were correct. Immediately upon registering the phone with Amazon, I got a year of Prime added. (I'm good through 2018 now!)

Me, too. I gave it to my son and he already loves it. (He's almost 18). Sure beats his LG Radiant. Now I just have to get to AT&T and get the number switched over.

You should just be able to swap the sim card from the LG phone to the Fire phone unless they are different sizes. One of the benefits of GSM phones over Verizon.

Yes, the Fire phone takes a smaller size than what's in the Radiant. AT&T will do it for free.

Here’s the Latest Annoying New Fee from AT&T

$15 every time you get a new phone?

Starting August 1, some new AT&T customers will have to pay higher fees for activating their mobile phones, while others will be subjected to entirely new fees that previously didn’t exist.

The new fee hikes, first reported by Droid Life, will cause activation charges on one- and two-year contracts with subsidized phones to rise from $40 to $45. As recently as last summer, mind you, the activation fee was $35 for such plans.
