Okay, the Paperwhite 3 was released around the first of this month, July, 2015.

So, what in blazes is "yonks"? You know, as in "...the paperwhite 3 has been out for yonks...." Is yonks seconds or minutes or perhaps it's breaths taken by a person having a anxiety attack?

I seriously suspect it will be out when it's ready. I know there are a lot of people who want it sooner so they can whine about it but, take heart, some people don't actually wait until something is available to start whining. Oh, right, you obviously know that.

I look at it this way it will be released when it is read to be released and even then it will have bugs that will have to be fixed and then updated again and again.
I have worked with programs enough to know that it takes a lot of time to create a program, and it then takes most time years to get it to work correctly. As for me my PW2 works good enough now I am not really looking forward to this much of a upgrade the first few times around.

Just saying that if it takes all that long to figure out typesetting, then perhaps don't plaster it all over the walls and advertise it to sell your new hardware until it's ..........wait for it............ready (*cue dramatic music*). One doesn't need to be a programmer to have basic common sense.

People bought a new device under lure of new features, and are yet to get those new features. If you promise to humans and then under-deliver, they're bound to become impatient. The answer is to not promise until you're ready enough.

I do think it is rather weird, and unwise, for Amazon to advertise the update before they are ready to release it. You need a cult following (*cough* Apple *cough*)
to pull that off, otherwise it just doesn't make good business sense.


We have had generic schmoozing about the anticipated update, in threads that didn't seem specifically targeted to "query: when is Amazon going to send the update".

I have friends who get bored and enjoy teasing animals. Maybe the geeks writing code get bored and like driving animals into a frenzy. Who knows?

I remember how upset my wife got when we arrived at a dinner at 7 o'clock and the hostess opened the door and said, "My god, right on time."

My wife glared because I told her the dinner started at six and had been rushing her since 5:45.

I live with my dog now. I'm much happier. My ex-wife, my late ex-wife, is still not happy.

Problem I see is Amazon Advertised PW3 With the New font People buy them expecting the New font on the device as adv ...then its hard to wait for the new font to appear. Glad I didn't bother to buy PW3 as I had planned.
