Search for a random jumble of letters, e.g. "xzqyds." Ordinarily, you'd get no results from such a search. If you get a result, that particular file has failed to index and should be removed for another try.

Its not as much of a pain these days with Cloud Collections as its pretty easy to redownload everything from the cloud and have it back in it's proper place.

I didn't realize I had to tap "text in books" to see if it was indexing. So maybe it was. I have since deleted a bunch of image-heavy non-fiction, and a couple hundred other book files, so now I will use it and see how it goes.

ETA - I see that one can't select "text in books" if there is nothing being indexed.

I don't use any collections on my Voyage. I also side load all my books because I like them formatted to my own specifications.

Ah, well in that case yet it probably is a right pain. I've never had any problems emailing things into Amazons cloud so things have been easy on the occasions I've needed to reset.

No, not really any trouble, as I have the books in Calibre and a special column that tells me what is on the device, so I just find those and click send.

My Voyage has a gradient. One that doesn't bother me. If I am looking for it I can see it a little. While I read my book, I don't notice. Are you going to insult my inteligence by telling me how horrible my Voyage is?

Question - is there any reason using books with embedded fonts on a KV would cause the battery to drain faster?

I have factory reset my Voyage, so I can't yet say whether I am still having issues. Just wondering, since every book I put on the device has an embedded font.

I wouldn't expect it to be any different, other than a larger file size for the book itself

Booklover--I don't think embedded fonts should cause any difference in battery drain. All of the books I have on my PW2 have embedded fonts (currently over 600 books), and my battery lasts for several weeks. Don't know how long it actually lasts--I usually charge it every week or two and it's always over well half full when I plug it in.

Actually, the battery lasts quite a bit longer on my PW2 than on my Aura HD--which drains to about 50% within a week.

Welllll .... it's a pain if you've been collecting free and paid books since 2008 and have some 1500 of them, and only want maybe 300 of them *on* the Kindle. But you want the most recent, and the preferred few, to be the ones on the kindle!

True, I do have the purchased ones indexed into a collection these days. So maybe it wouldn't be so bad. I haven't done a factory reset since I got the Voyage and entered into the Cloud Collections world. I could find the purchased books readily enough. The "most recent" freebies wouldn't really matter, and I could find those online anyway, couldn't I.

With reluctance, I contacted CS and they are sending me a replacement Voyage. I didn't want to do it, but it does have three defects. That's not good for such an expensive device.

Pinhole in the light layer (more than 1, but 1 is most noticeable)
Often takes multiple touches on the lower right to turn pages
Rapid battery drain even after factory reset.

Hopefully I can salvage my skin. If not, that's $15 into the trash.

After a few days to read, read, read and finally read this forum I finally managed to buy a Kindle Voyage.
It was hard to decide. I longly hesitate between Glo HD / Glo Aura H2O.
Frankly, after seeing the Kobos in store, it wasn't possible to go to the Glo HD as it looked cheap compared to my actual Sony PRS 650 (Witch looks like to be new after 5 years)

So, I'll give a chance to the Voyage, which seems to be a beautiful device (impossible to see it in stores in France) and I'm now very impatient to receive and read with it.

I won't forget to put my impressions here.

By the way, thanks a lot for all your posts. That was very pleasant to read and helped me.
