Amazon Prime "No Rush Shipping" changes - Page 16

Amazon may have changed its policy with respect to the promotional credit and ebooks. It looks like the credit may only apply to items sold by Amazon Digital Services and not ebooks sold by third party publishers.

I had an issue with this a week or so ago and was told by customer service that my $1 promotional credit only applied to ebooks sold by Amazon. When I went to use my $3 promotional credit this morning, it wasn't applied to my order.

Looks like I won't be using no-rush shipping anymore...

It may have been a bug that allowed us to do that before. I was always surprised to be allowed to buy books from the big publishers. I currently have around $12 in credits and $6 more coming. Damn.

Dang! I've got a ton of credits coming and I planned to splurge on something rather pricey. And I think it's a scootch dishonest of Amazon not to disclose this upfront, since you can't tell until after you've placed an order if the credit was applied.

I was going to get something expensive too.

That's the biggest problem with one click - you don't know what you paid until you bought it. That should be against the law. One of the stupidest things with one click is that you can buy without a password, but if you want to see the order details you have to enter your password.

I wonder what reason Amazon has for requiring one click for Kindle purchases. I wonder too if it is actually against the law to require it - the EU has much better consumer protection laws than the US I think. It's very much anti consumer to not allow one to see the actual purchase price before paying.

This isn't Kindle related, but SanDisk sdhc cards (which I guess still isn't Kindle related...). Anyhow, in early June (2015) I made an order that was mostly these cards and something else that they'd fulfill (i.e., it didn't come directly from China via boat, for example). I wanted it all in a reasonable time (hoping it wouldn't get lost), so though I could use "free shipping", I chose regular first class, and finished the transaction. Then I noticed it wouldn't come for... FIVE WEEKS! wha...? I could buy all the same things (for more) locally... after a bus ride or two... so I canceled the order immediately, within 10 minutes of placing it. I figured (because I'm a generous person...) maybe they were reading their calendar wrong or something, because otherwise it made no sense. I recently made another, similar order, at the end of June, and it took about 10 or 14 days or so (again, using 1st class-type mail). My thought now is that Amazon has decided it's not going to worry about shipping at all, good luck after you order! I doubt even next-day shipping would get anything to the customer that early**. Oh, I just remembered that in the recent order I bought a book that would come from one of their vendors, Hasting's Books, and it came Right Away (like three days later!). The stuff handled by Amazon just poked along and sight-saw via US Mail on the way. It came up hill, so that's another excuse. Very weird behavior all around. I don't plan to buy anything from them in the future.

**In 2012or 2013, I ordered a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" through Amazon and figured if I asked for next-day shipping it would still be cheaper in totally than buying it locally (and paying tax) (if I could find it locally). Amazon did indeed send it such that it arrived the next day and I was thrilled.

Oh my. I may have gone too far on Prime day. I now have just over £41 of promotional credit to be used by the end of August.

Heh. I'm not quite that badly off, but it's bad enough. And now that I can:'( use the credit for third party publishers, it's of little interest.

I'm a little peeved. I made several purchases because I was doing the mental accounting that I was saving $3 per. I wouldn't have spent the money without the purported "saving."

Poorer but wiser....

Could it possibly be an Agency thing all over again?
Publishers that have renegotiated new Agency contracts may not allow their ebooks to be discounted in this manner (or Amazon may be interpreting it that way).

Curiosity question. What are you using to 1 click with, that you can't see the actual price?
Or do you mean the total price with tax added? I always go to the website then 1 click.
I know if a book is 99 cents then it will actually be $1.07.
2.99 is 3.22.
