Good work you guys. I tried as suggested and moved the two dll files to my Sigil portable folder and ran it - Sigil still did not load, although the splash screen popped up. So I uninstalled the programme that used the dlls (MP4Box / Osmo), moved the dlls out of the way and tried again.

Success - Sigil loaded!

Thanks very much

I think it is enough to put the dll files into Sigil portable and no need to uninstall MP4Box/0smo. The folder is SigilPortable\App\Sigil, i.e. put dll in the same folder as Qt5Core.dll.

And you need put version 1.0.1, not old version of dll files

I didn't need MP4Box, so removing the programme works for me. However it would be useful to have the up to date dlls, where can these be downloaded?

It can be downloaded from official website https://www.openssl.org/related/binaries.html.

I have done as you recommended. The older versions of the dlls have been deleted, the up to date dlls in the right folder and Sigil loads. It takes a little longer for the programme to come up, but it works. Thanks.

Keep in mind that if you don't need the program (MP4Box) that installed an older version of openssl (and added it's program directory to your path), then you don't need any openssl libraries added to Sigil's directory. They're not actually utilized by Sigil. Qt just loads some of their functions at runtime if they're available.

You only need to put the newer openssl libs in your Sigil directory when you have a program that includes an older version of the openssl libs (on your path where Qt will locate them), and you'd like to keep both that program and Sigil.

Sigil will function just fine with absolutely no openssl libs installed on your machine at all (though putting a compatible version of the libs in your Sigil directory won't hurt anything).

All fair points. Sigil did run before I did this. However, I didn't want to find I installed another programme in the future with outdated dlls and then find Sigil is broken. This way, I'm covered.

Thanks.

That's fair enough.

I've encountered the same problem. DiapDealer's custom build worked like a charm!
Then I've updated GPAC to the latest version available (0.5.2-dev-rev537) and the normal build started to work too.
