Well that only means that the mod needs to go deeper than just changing a single number in a config file.

As for the rest, different people different usage.

Quite a bit deeper and I haven't seen many people offering to look into the required changes.

As for the different usage? My wife uses her Aura a couple of times a week. When she's done reading and knows she won't be reading for a day or so, she holds the power button until it turns off. A bit of a low tech solution but it works for her.

There is already a library around that intercepts the suspend and resume functions. It is currently used in a screen saver hack. When entering suspend, one could start a script that powers off the device after a set time. If resume is called before that has happened, one would kill the power off script. You could try something along these lines. There might be issues with remembering the last opened page (or maybe even book) and similar things.

I've always thought the battery drain was so minimal during sleep mode as to not be a concern and never really need to turn it off. When this thread was revived again, I did a test on 2 of my Glos more for my own curiosity. Both have the same firmware, 3.15.0, and both have the same identical books on them, both had light at 90% (which shouldn't matter since the light is off, just mentioning it). I charged both to 100%, then turned one completely off and put the other one to sleep only and didn't touch either one for a week.

And when I just checked after the week was up, they both are still at 100% battery. Both of these readers are over a year old, one probably used more than the other is the only difference.

My other older readers that I never use I of course shut off and don't bother leaving in sleep mode. And of course the batteries need recharging after maybe a month or so anyway even when turned off. I never paid attention to how often, I just want to keep the batteries from dying.

But unless you're storing your device long-term, I still would recommend just leaving it in sleep mode.

Out of curiosity, did you try reading each after that? for example, an hour each?

I ask because the initial percentage after waking seems to me, to be a bit deceptive, and when i get back into reading, it either goes down normally, if I'm reading often, or it goes down super fast at the start if I've left my kobo for a long time in sleep. even if it initially shows no drop in percentage.

No, I wasn't reading, but later on I was adding/deleting some books, so I've drained the battery a bit on each. I'll have to recharge them both to full again to test that.

Now, it just switches off after 60 minutes, the maximum that can be selected in the menu, even though the config file still states 1440.

Has anyone else noticed this? And/or found a 'fix'?
This seems to work again in 4.8 (or maybe in earlier versions already, but I didn't try until now)

+1 for this being a feature. I'd personally like sleep on the order of minutes to hours and power off on the order of days.
