I'm kicking myself for not waiting until Prime Day to buy the Fire HD 6. Instead of the $29 I paid for it last Saturday, I could've paid $79 for it on Prime Day. Oh when will I ever learn.

Amazon is claiming victory and Prime Day is coming back
http://www.cnet.com/news/amazon-take...for-prime-day/

I will not be as jazzed about it next year as I was this year after the bad experience. I found it an exercise in frustration. It did not live up to the hype for me. But they got the sales they wanted.

The big failing for me (and one thing I'm still curious about) was not taking advantage of wish lists.

Why not feature them prominently?

Why not make it easy to look through wish lists and see what items had price drops?

Really kind of curious as to how much effort Amazon puts into researching wish lists and what they do w/ all that data.

I agree! I expected something like that as well. They could have sold a bunch of early Christmas gifts by featuring sale items from your saved wishlists on the home page.

Also, on that day, why not prominently feature the Prime Day price to non-Prime customers? I looked at the LOTR blu rays on my non-Prime account and (if I remember correctly) there was the regular price and a little link saying something about a deal being available for Prime members. That's it.

It felt like Amazon didn't know how to use Amazon.

This sums up for me how I feel about Amazon after the event:

While Amazon should be pleased with those results, its failure to respond to consumers’ complaints comes across as arrogant, Altimeter’s Akhtar says. “When a brand faces a Twitter backlash, it should acknowledge that fact by responding and saying, ‘We didn’t handle inventory as well as we could, demand exceeded our expectations, we’ll do better next time,’” he says.

Responding to consumers’ social media comments—or even just acknowledging that some aspects of the sale didn’t go as planned—can help a brand build a deeper connection with shoppers, Akhtar says.

I made the switch from a Roomba to a Neato--so much better. I spent so much on replacement parts for Roomba over the years; Neato has held up much better and does a better job, too. Just in case you do need a new toy after all ...

Hmm. I just put everything in my cart and click "save for later." Then whenever I check the cart, Amazon shows me a listing of price changes right at the top of the page.

I only use the wish list to let people know what gifts I might like.

I do that too. It's a great way to track price drops.

Ditto.
Saves me money on impulse buys, too.
I have stuff there going back a couple years.
I prune the listing regularly but there's stuff I'm interested in but not interested enough to get right away.
