I cancelled Scribd after 50% of my library now says expiring. According to PayPal I have paid Scribd $107 to date and I know I've read less than 10 books. How many books I could have gotten with that money. If they want to pick on romance readers then I can no longer support their service. It was fun while it lasted.

I've also noticed a huge decline in freebies as of late on Amazon and the other stores.

Yeah it's really too bad. I bought an annual subscription earlier this year and I read so many nonfiction, kids' books, and cookbooks enough that it's worth it. Still I'll see how I feel after all those romance titles expire in August. Maybe they would give me a pro-rated refund. Now I'm seeing more titles I want to read on Amazon, so maybe I'll try Kindle Unlimited next.

I was debating rather to cancel mine or not as I really needed the money to use for the kitties so them removing all those romances made the decision easier for me. I may give KU a try once more income comes in. Hubby is still looking for a job so no book buying. I do have overdrive though St Louis only allows 5 titles and little selection. So good thing I have Brooklyn and FLP still although the Wait times are about a month for a good book lately.

I only get three a week here. Luckily, our library has been really good on grabbing new releases.

Correction: Freading is 3 a week with the newer titles, Overdrive allows 10 per week. Depending which format you're using on Overdrive, there is a trick to getting more titles in a week.

I did cancel Scribd. I don't appreciate their treatment of romance readers and I am tired of books coming and going with no rhyme or reason. I never got an email from them about anything. Heck, I didn't even get one when I cancelled.

I joined KU again after I had cancelled that one in November and yesterday in the prime sales I got the 24 month prepaid for 40% off so now the monthly fee equals 5.99 for 2 years on that. Much better.

So now I have KU, couple of libraries and all my already owned books. This will help with my book budget. Which has shrunk to raisin size because of other personal issues. Instead of jumping on sales, I put them on wishlist for loan if they aren't already in KU or at the library.

They can get a bit antsy if you return too many the same day (I was checking some books I'd read and did that once). The block usually lifts after a few hours, IME.

For my main library, I can have 15 books at a time, so that would be 45 returns in a week to get flagged (not much chance of that).
