I ordered something not on sale that I had been waiting to get and got $20 off for using my Amazon rewards card, so that worked nicely. Otherwise, in the sale itself, I saw a rice cooker I would have liked, but didn't see it fast enough.

The no-rush shipping credit is $3 for each order today. I ordered a ton of $3-4 books, CDs, and DVDs that have been in my cart for ages, and made back my $79 Prime fee just today.

I had an order earlier today that had a $5 credit towards lawn/garden/pets etc and another lightning deal that offered me nothing. Weird.

It looks to be working for me now, grabbed a movie for $4.79 on blu-ray. I don't buy many any more, but for $4.79 with a $3 credit, I'll bite. Thanks for mentioning.

Amazon has earned much good will over the years for great Customer service, so I don't think this sale hurts them long term. But what a blunder and missed opportunity. I checked through sale items several times for anything of interest and most of it was junk, properly described by some as a "garage sale". Still, I imagine they made lots of money and cleaned lots of stuff out of their "garage". :-)

What were people expecting to buy?

I'm frankly puzzled. No, I didn't see sales on any items I've got on my list of "someday" purchases, but I don't usually find all that much on Black Friday either. There seemed to be a wide variety of merchandise, but since I'm pretty frugal and not an impulse buyer, I passed.

I expect Amazon got a lot of people to sign up for a free trial of Prime, and some percentage of those people will decide to pay the yearly fee.

Since Amazon hyped this sale so much, I can understand a bit of the disappointment, but, seriously, Amazon's being faulted for having a sale??? That seems crazy to me.
