Dictionary bug?
It happened to me more than once. When I select a word for a dictionary look-up, the selected word may include the article and apostrophe, or the punctuation sign with its narrow no-break space. For exemple: l'arbre instead of arbre arbre_; instead of arbre ( _ is used here for the narrow no-break space) And of course, this way, I cannot get the expected result. PS: I also reported some posts above about a display bug caused by the presence of links right after the opening tag of a paragraph. |

Don't you have the problem that "œ" breaks word selection? If you want to select a word with "œ" you have to tap, and then manually move the handles, which I guess is also whan you have to do when an apostrophe or spaces get selected.

Some of those problems might be related to the language(s) supported by the dictionary. Or how it relates to UTF8 & Unicode. You might find a more compatible dictionary. You can use more than one dictionary at a time (I have 3 or 4, on mine) and use the arrows to move between the different dictionarie's results.

Thanks for your replies.
The dictionary is a French stardict dictionary. In the meantime, I will make do with a manual search (using the handles). EDIT: the alleged problem was due in fact to a bad selection of a dictionary (English instead of French). I did not notice the switch. Sorry for this false report. Device reboot
Hi all,
I have a virginal Aura H2O with FW 3.15.0, KSM_07incUp4 and Koreader v2014.11-267-g0b45394 (nightly build). My problem now (or it's usual?) is if I reboot from Koreader it starts in Nickel and I can't start Koreader. If I tip on the switchtokoreader symbol it shows me just the pictures. The same behaviour after start if the power was switched off in Koreader. Any ideas how tho solve this or there is nothing to be solved? regards MerrittR |

At that moment you can go (through KSM) to Tools>Kobo diverse>start nickel no fmon.sh. Then open all png you have for use with programs. When you have finished reboot and try open koreader from nickel. |

If you do not select anything in the menu after powering on, nickel is automatically started after 20 seconds or so. How do you reboot from Koreader?

Yes, that's the way. From nickel you must open the png like a book (in library). If all go well, when you reboot and open nickel you should call all the programs associated to the png except switchtokoreader.png that work only if you use: koreader additions>start nickel koreader switch.

Once you have a "ksmAutoselectoption" displayed in the [general] section you can select it and the "available options for [general]ksmAutoselection=start_nickel" will be displayed. One of the options should be to Autoselect koreader. But, you might want to remember that you can now just select koreader before the 20 seconds have expired and not have it go to nickel. Luck; Ken |

The first problem is if I switch the reader off in KSM and turn it on with the power button or I reboot in KSM the reader starts in Nickel there is no any screen or options to select something. And if the reader starts in Nickel I can't change to KSM. Always if tip on PNGs installed with KSM like "switchtokoreader", "exit_nickel", "night_mode" and "SQL..." Nickel show me just pictures. I have to turn the reader off and after while on again then the reader starts in KSM. The next problem is if I switch the reader in Nickel off and turn it on after hours (long time) the reader strats also in Nickel and not in KSM and there is no options or screen where I can select somthing. Is this behaviour usual or not? Quote:

To get the .png image files to work with fmon they first must have been processed into the Kobo database and then the proper KoboRoot.tgz placed in the .kobo directory of your device and the association made to start a program when the png is selected. The one for Koreader is not needed when using KSM7. It might be easiest to just reinstall KSM7, following all the steps and being sure that everything is placed in the proper folders, as spelled out in the instructions. Luck; Ken |

About koreader.png, yes you don't need it if you use KSM but switchtokoreader.png yes if you want to run it from nickel because KSM also use fmon |

Device reboot
Ken, boriar,
thanks for your help. @boriar I did this, still the same behaviour like I described. If the reader starts in Nickel, and I tip on exit_nickel.png the reader show me just pictures. @Ken I made factory reset and clean installation of the KSM and Koreader twice and still the same. For me it doesn't matter how the reader starts (Nickel or Koreader), important is that if the reader starts in Nickel I can switch to Koreader without turn it of and on again. However, yesterday I brought the reader back. I described this behaviour to the seller .. (No, just a joke) I found some quallity problems on the reader and now I'm waiting for new one. I will try the steps again. Thanks regards MerrittR |
