That first book is worth a read. It's VERY good, the later volumes aren't quite as strong, but still fairly good, I think.

I don't know if this is regular pricing, but I noticed that George R.R. Martins 5 book Game of Thrones bundle is $19.99 at Amazon and Google Play. It's $29.99 at B&N and $39.99 at Kobo. A pretty good price if you don't have the series.
