Launcher: missing or incorrect paths passed in

What version of Python do you have installed (and configured within Sigil's preferences)?

At what exact point in the process do you get the "failed" message?

Hi again and thank you

I am using windows
My sigil version is 8.7

I have installed python 2.7 and 3.4

I get the message when I click on plugins, then output and click on epub3-itizier which I added

Then start.

Sigil preferences? Not sure what you mean.

@esack - look in ==>> Edit->Preferences->Plugins - you have to tell Sigil where you've installed python(s)

"Set" just lets you select the python interpreter using a standard file-browser. If "Auto" finds the correct python paths (or if you manually type the paths), there's no need to click the "Set" button.

Does your epub2 validate before you try to run the plugin?

If I convert the epub2 by hand the epub3 file was validated successfully:

I'm guessing that the plugin isn't going to handle that particular metadata correctly because your source isn't valid EPUB2 to begin with. The "media:" prefix (for media overlays) is not part of the ePub2 spec to my knowledge. It's ePub3 only.

ePub3-itizer converts ePub2 to ePub3 ... not ePub3-ish to all the way ePub3.

Yes, the plugin was designed to go from valid epub2 to valid epub3. I might be able to modify it to pass through unchanged any opf epub3 meta tags with a property attribute. Let me look into that.
