Kobo has released firmware version 3.16.0. It is being released for the Touch and Glo HD. It should start appearing on some devices today, but Kobo will be doing their usual staged release, so it might be days or weeks before everyone receives it.

I plugged my Kobo Touch into my laptop tonight for the first time in ages to charge, and as soon as I saw it was updating the firmware I scooted over here to read up on it because you all always help me understand what's new, improved and not-so-improved. So far I really like the updated look, but I do have one question. Is there really no better way to page through the list of books that are installed besides tapping on the Page x of xx number and manually typing in a page number? I cannot find a "Next Page" button or function anywhere but it's quite possible it's right under my nose and I'm missing it.

Use a swipe to go forward/backwards in the list. Much like swiping to go forward/backward when reading.

Not officially though others have side loaded it and it seems to work. Read up on how to do so or you can brick your H2O.

There is another bug in kepubs,a annoying one, don't know if it is recent but according to GeoffR it is because the kobo is using an old webkit for kepubs.
See here.

In my experience, that bug is not a issue with the firmware; it's a consequence of patching your Kobo. That is because with the patches you modify the line spacing options in the kepub renderer, making it much more 'narrow' than it is by default. So after patching and with certain fonts, using one of the lower line spacing options, this can happen.
And no, it's not recent.

But as I said, I read for at least a year and a half on an unpatched Kobo with various fonts, the same I've been using now, and I had never seen that problem before I started using the patches. So I am not sure you can call that a bug (?)

Unpatched old Glo with (sideloaded) kepub gives the same result. (if linespace is not present in .css)

I noticed the same behavior as mathil with the line-spacing patch applied on my Kobo--i was getting cutoff lines at the bottom and tops of pages quite frequently. I've since turned off the line-spacing patch (left other patches running) and haven't seen the problem with cut-off lines since. If I remember correctly, I did see them once in a while before patching my Kobo, so don't know that the problem is totally related to the line-spacing patch, but I can confirm that having the patch applied makes the problem much more prevalent.

Ah! Thank you so much. I always have just tapped to turn pages within a book and there were always forward and back buttons everywhere else. I didn't pick up on the swipe option even though, now that I think about it, Kobo did throw up a little tip screen after I updated the firmware. I really should try paying more attention to those things.

Kobo readers also have tap area settings for page turns forward and back. Top 1/2 of screen can be set to forward or back page turn then bottom 1/2 of screen is for opposite direction. I don't use this feature.

Tap doesn't work in library view unless you are planning on opening a book.

My Glo HD is now purely reading device with only coolreader and sideloaded epubs. Never use nickel anymore, never connect to wifi, never buy online. Any good updating to 3.16.0?

Yes, it fixes an annoying line height bug and improves hyphenation.

Both are Nickel issues, which he isn't using (he runs CoolReader). If you run the standard firmware only to start CR, I doubt the version matters.
