hi all, I wonder if there is a way to fix it...
I have an old kobo glo and a new one, I was surprise to see how much the old one lost the contrast and get lot more ghost.. my old is about 2 or 3 years old (I don't know..) but I guess reading Manga or pdf with the zoom made the screen life shorter... Android also had probably damage the screen with his high refresh rate.. it look like material issue and there is probably nothing to do. does anyone noticed that? I don't point out with one is the old ![]() I took the picture after running the same internal sd card... going to power off in the same way. Last edited by Don_Karnage; 07-06-2015 at 06:48 AM. |

Possible suggestion: Make certain that the old one has gone through a fresh refresh and then power it off and then compare the two.

well they both get the same sd card... when I power on, koreader open the last book , via advboot prerun.
then menu, power off. there is at least one refresh during the boot and one when the book open... so... anyway, even making plenty of refresh does not help much, there is better contrast... but the white still grey and the black dark grey.... specially where there is the footer and the header... obviously because there was higher refresh at those places. any tips to refresh the hardware contrast? where is Mac gyver Last edited by Don_Karnage; 07-07-2015 at 07:47 AM. |

You could switch batteries, or the entire mainboard... if the issue persists, that leaves the display itself as a culprit.

I don't think so.
You could make the display go black->white->black->white in an endless loop for a few hours, but I doubt it will help any... If you have the ability to run scripts via telnet or something... Code:
while : do /usr/local/Kobo/pickel showpic < /dev/zero tr '\x00' '\xff' < /dev/zero | /usr/local/Kobo/pickel showpic /usr/local/Kobo/pickel showpic 1 < /dev/zero tr '\x00' '\xff' < /dev/zero | /usr/local/Kobo/pickel showpic 1 done |
