Energy Sistem Pro +

Having trouble changing the stock launcher. Downloaded Google Now, & installed it but there seems no way of disabling the Sistem Launcher.

Anybody encountered this before ?

HI Charlie,
I am thinking to buy an Energy System pro+, I saw you have an aura HD,
Please if you like would you share your feelings comparing the two devices in terms of definition of the screen, light, responsiveness, software etc?

I was a bit nervous buying the Energy Sistem Pro+, some people on the forum had commented on the poor battery life & screens with display artifacts etc. I'm happy to report that my unit had no display problems. Used to the higher resolution of the Aura HD, I had expected the resolution to look dreadful, but suprisingly it didn't.

Some reviews have indicated that this e-reader runs an Open Android variant OS. Open it most certainly is not. Irritatingly there is no way of removing the bottom menu bar, even when the launcher is replaced with Stock Google Now. Screen real estate is restricted unless the App you are running will run in full screen, most won't.

As expected when using the e-reader in pure reading mode, using the customised version of F.B Reader, the battery life is quite respectable. Using the e-reader in Android mode, soon starts to drain the battery, not suprisingly because of the amount of screen refreshing going on. Frontlight is better than I had expected, with good overall coverage, the only complaint being, the minimum brightness setting is perhaps too high for prolonged, night time reading.

This e-reader does what it says on the box, it will run most Android Apps, & comes with Google Play Store, but as stated earlier, you have to put up with the ever present menu bar at the bottom of the screen. Overall considering the price of the unit I'm happy, build quality seems fairly good etc. My only gripe would be the amount of on board Ram, you'll only have room for 1 or 2 apps before the on board Ram gets filled up. Luckily This model has an S.D slot so you can expand the storage space & install Apps & E-Books on the S.D card.

Given the tardiness of Energy Sistem, responding to customer complaints & returns, of people who bought direct, from the company, I recommend buying through Energy Sistems Amazon.co.uk page, at least then if you want to return the e-reader, you'll have no problems...

Question

Hi Owners of the Pro +,

for not making yet another tread about this device..

Whats your final verdict about the battery time with/without back light of this model Pro + .

I was searching for some info before going to amazon, but without success.

With some tweaking I get around 20 days standby with about 1hour of reading every 1-2 days using a low front light & wifi on constantly. I did have drains before tweaks and they did need root to do - without any tweaks I barely got 2-3 days.

Experience update 2.0.0B

Hello,
I have updated to 2.0.0B.
After a rest it seems to work fine.

I seem not to be able to select a word and make annotations using the FB reader.

Koen

EDIT: making annotations is possible. It is NOT possible to edit them, one can only delete.

Light setting - workaround to get lower light intensity

Hi Charlie,
A workaround for the light intensity.
Koen

Full post on: http://forum.energysistem.com/forum/...hp?f=91&t=4577

1. Do not use the the lightbulb button that makes the light go up step by step
2. go to the normel homescreen.
3. Tap the right bottom corner of the screen(where the clock and battery icon are).
4. A small popup appears. At the ricght is a settings icon. Tap it.
5. The popup gets bigger. Use the glide button next to the little sun to ajust the light intensitiy.

The intensity can be set lower than the lowest intensity using the regular light menu.

How? Every time I tap Google Now it tells me to "clear the defaults" of Energy Launcher. But the "Clear Defaults" button for EL is disabled?!

Update 3.0.0

Yesterday I got a message to update to 3.0.0. I only had time for 2 min testing after, but the Pro+ did feel quick and more responsive to touch.

Though I'd wake this thread up so we have a place to share fixes if the new update cause trouble.

A sudden jump from V1 to V3 and then almost immediately to V4 seems a bit suspicious.

(I know V2 made an appearance for a time then was withdrawn).

I'll be holding off with the update until things stabilise.

Interested to hear of any improvements or problems with V3.
