As to the long blocks of text... many of us have done it at times depending on the topic. But the big difference is that it's broken up into paragraphs with punctuation, proper capital letters, etc. Reading a long block of poorly constructed run-on thoughts in one huge section honestly makes my eyes bleed and I generally just skim over the text, often I just ignore it all. Add in the all caps which is generally considered yelling and a lot of people end up passing it up without reading it. That's all that PeterT was trying to point out trying to make your visits here more enjoyable for you and everyone you interact with on the forums. Take the advice or not. And it might be a good idea if you consider that maybe your way isn't always the best way for everyone else and respect that other people will have differing opinions than you that are just as valid as yours. Although I agree with you generally on the topic of wanting all electronics to have batteries capable of being replaced by the consumer, but I'll just avoid buying any pricy electronics without that option and not waste time ranting about it. |

I'd also point out that if we all followed the idea of always replying when someone replied to us no debate would ever end because by replying and stating you were done you would then require everyone else to reply and say they were done which in turn would make you have to reply and so on. Some advice you gave Peter applies, if you don't want to read any more in this topic, then don't. No one is trying to say you are wrong. There really is no right or wrong in this sort of debate, because it's all about opinion and by their nature an opinion can't be right or wrong*. *If and only if it's actually an opinion, stating facts as opinions does not make them opinions. |

Odd tho.
I recently bought a Aura cause I like the idea of a totally flat, tablet like screen. My wife has my old Glo (I say old, I bought it a month ago to replace a Touch and it was brand new reduced stock so she's lucked out as well - I paid half price for it). I like the screen. I dont have a problem with it. I don't see any scratches or the ilk. I switched off the pinch to zoom as I have sausage fingers, and it sometimes clashed with the two finger light swipe. But all in all its a good reader, so the only think I can think of is economically, the capacitive screen didn't really offer a significant boost that a normal IR screen did |

I have an H2O which I'm generally happy with by my reading is split 50/50 between fiction and non-fiction and non-fiction books tend to have a lot of endnotes. Unfortunately the IR screens make it practically impossible to select an endnote properly when it is buried in with the rest of the text. It just drives me bonkers. Another problem I have had is that with a couple of books, when I finally manage to get to the endnotes and try to go back to the previous page, it instead takes me back to the book library and I have to open the book and search for the page that I was on myself. It's a huge pain in the butt. I've noticed it with a couple books on my H2O and I thought it was just a book issue but I tried one of the same books on my Aura and it works fine. Are endnotes broken with the H2O?

More a software issue than a touchscreen issue.

I generally read non-fiction on my Kindle Voyage, but I just tried one on my Glo HD, and the foot note selection was not a problem. I got a pop up with "foot note preview" and "see more" at the bottom of the pop up. After selecting "see more" I was able to go back to the proper place in the book with no problem. |

Yes that is better I would agree. I just downloaded the book from Kobo (rather than using a side-loaded version) but the kepub cuts off the right side of the page! What the hell?

@Canuck_in_Japan: Do you have the full screen reading option enabled (if I remember correctly it's a line in the config file)? If so, try disabling it and see if that makes a difference.

hi, @Canuck_in_Japan: If you have full screen turned on but you want to disable it, go into reading settings and where it says page layout tick the show header and footer box, i hope this helps.
