Personally I am still hoping for an updated Voyage I don't see how they can keep the price difference between the new PW3 and the Voyage without something new.

Not even wide gaps because of no hyphenation? Since switching to the H2O from the T1, I've found kerning and hyphenation quite pleasing.

The description says it does. Are you suggesting that Amazon are lying when they talk about improved drop caps, for example?

That is most likely the case. If you look at the video posed (linked in another thread) that compares the PW3 to the Glo HD, the Glo HD (using the same screen) has better contrast. I also think the light layer is causing the loss of contrast.

I did forget about that. But really, aren't drop caps defined by what's in the CSS and the font being used?

We both left out ligatures.

I do look forward to seeing what Amazon comes up with overall and how well it works.

Ligatures work in iOS. It is the full package. And on iPad, hyphenation works beautifully; but smaller the screen, harder it would be. We will have to wait to see.

It is all very beatiful on iOS Kindle. I made the full switch from iBooks.

By the way, there is kerning, hyphenation and ligatures with Baskerville and Caecilia too on the iOS app. Palatino only has hyphenation.

Therefore we could safely say that hyphenation is system-wide now, no matter what type you use.

I also use typefaces I extracted from Paperwhite firmwares with my Kobo. I checked them and they also have kerning and ligatures with Baskerville and Caecilia. Strangely enough. Palatino has kerning there, but no ligatures.

I haven't checked others.

But I think when the Kindle updates comes, Baskerville, Caecilia and Palatino will also have kerning. And the first two will have ligatures.

Nope no issues at all. I have the H20 but prefer to read on my Voyage.

I tried. It didn't. I tried both sideloading through Calibre and using Send to Kindle

It seems like coming soon in the description of the PW3 meant coming soon after the release of the PW3. Originally I thought it meant coming soon just like the PW3 was coming soon. Amazon really needs to clarify this. I can see many people not reading that or thinking the same being bothers/annoyed/pissed/unhappy thinking that the PW3's new typesetting is broken or that they have to wait for a new firmware.

My opinion is that Amazon should have waited until the typesetting was ready before releasing the PW3.

Is it due to the screen size and/or weight of the H2O? if that's the case, you can get all the typesetting/options of the H2O in a smaller lighter Reader with the Glo HD.

I just got mine today. This is my first kindle and my first ereader with a backlight so my old classic nook is no comparison. At around anything less than 20 on the brightness setting I can see that slight variation in brightness along the bottom. It's noticeable but just barely and only bothers me at the bottom of a page for the last few sentences. Still, it's annoying and I wonder if it's like that with all of the new ones still or just mine and I should send it in to be replaced?

That appears to be more or less the case with all the frontlit devices (it varies a bit). Some people are more sensitive to it than others -- most people don't find it a problem.
(Also, during the first production runs of some models, there were an abnormally large number of complaints, indicating quality control issues.)

Or so I've heard, as I never owned a frontlit ereader.
