Adding a user replaceable battery wouldn't exactly be trailblazing. It'd be resurrecting something that some devices used to have and manufacturers have now moved away from.

I have very old flip phone with replaceable battery but all batteries made for this phone have probably gone bad setting on shelf. Close enough fit and solder on leads from old battery will not work for this phone but would work for my Kobo readers.

Hmmm... iPhone -- no uSD card slot, no user replaceable battery Samsung Galaxy S6 -- no uSD card slot, no user replaceable battery. Yet they seem to be flying off the shelves at the local shops. Seems as if most consumers don't really care about either of those features.

hi, it certainly does, i know it's a different device altogether but imagine how many sony psps would have sold back in the day without being able to replace the battery or have a memory card slot, not that many i reckon.

best wishes koboy.

But then battery technology was worse than today. An ideal situation would be a fixed battery with a long life - one less part to worry about.
