buying amazon books, how do i transfer to kobo reader?
i can't work it out
i have downloaded some free books, but i can only read them through the app / cloud, how do i get to the file? so i can convert in calibre

i dont have a kindle, only a kobo glo

I assume you mean Kindle for PC when you talk about the app?
In that case the books are in Documents\My Kindle Content .
They don't have meaningful names sadly, but if you sort by date the newest .azw file is the latest book you downloaded with Kindle for PC.

Device: Kindle Oasis 2, iPad Pro 10.5", iPhone 6
Install "Kindle for PC" on your computer and open the book in that program. You'll then find the book file in the "My Documents/My Kindle Content" folder on your PC. You will of course have to convert it to ePub format to read on your Kobo, but presumably you're familiar with that side of things.
