X-link to the Comics megathread:
The new Humble Jim Henson Comics Bundle presented by BOOM! Studios contains 3 novelizations for Henson's cult-classic fantasy films The Dark Crystal (IMDB, Wikipedia) and Labyrinth (IMDB, Wikipedia; the one with David Bowie in it) and The Storyteller TV series, and a Dark Crystal Creation Myths comic with contributions by Chelsey & Hugo Award-winning fantasy illustrator Brian Froud (ISFDB, Wikipedia), who was also the designer for the original films. ETA: it turns out the novelizations are illustrated, and also have extra pages of sketches and behind-the-scenes notes from Froud himself. Last edited by ATDrake; 06-10-2015 at 05:50 PM. |

Kelley Armstong's Omens is $2.99 today at Kobo CA and Amazon US. It's a publisher discount so it is probably discounted at other retailers. It is a unique Urban Fantasy, the first in her Cainsville series and I enjoyed the first two books. I'm gathering the third is coming out soon, hence the discount.

Hard to believe he's that old already but then Jennifer connlley is 44. I know that because her and I share the exact same birth date. Its too bad the film was a flop at the time it came out. It's great fun.

labyrinth is indeed great fun - it was one of my favorite movies, and as a result, was my very first ever VHS tape when i got my first VHS player.

I think Labyrinth is a movie that may need to be rediscovered. I don't remember liking it much originally but, but enjoyed watching it with my kids not too long ago. My daughter loved it. She watched it 3 or 4 times.

The best part of the movie Labyrinth to me was always the YES song at the end, with the unicorns.

Kim Stanley Robinson's 2312 is on special at $4.99 in Australia and New Zealand. With the sad state of the NZ dollar currently, $NZ4.99 is getting close to the £1.99 price point.
Last edited by GeoffR; 06-26-2015 at 03:46 PM. Reason: $NZ4.99 = £2.14 |

FREE! Star Trek: Where no man has gone before: Where no man has gone before by Gene Roddenberry
There is an on-going debate by many people that this series, and many story lines that are introduced in novels, are not considered to be "canon" with the remaining Star Trek series, despite the many facts and examples of the Star Trek references and technology and characters. They continue the stories from the first series, and even is adapted from some of the cancelled scripts. Many elements of this series are used in the following Star Trek TV shows and movies. We get to learn that James T. Kirk's middle name is Tiberius, Spock's mother is named Amanda Grayson, Robert April is the first captain of the Enterprise, Uhura is now seen in command of the bridge of the Enterprise, and the saying "Beam us up, Scotty" is also heard spoken on screen for the first time. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01053N72E/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01053N72E/ http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01053N72E/ Last edited by pdurrant; 06-28-2015 at 03:28 AM.
