Started on June 4th, 2015.

Prior to that I stampeded through all nine of the Fleet of Worlds and Ringworld books in a bit under 3 weeks. The amount of reading time I get in a day varies. If I have all the time I want... I can chunk through a 450~500 page book in a single sitting, like I did with each of Forstchen's Lost Regiment series. Sit down Friday evening, close the back cover and hello Saturday sunrise.
Last time I tried to binge-read the Foreigner series, I think I stalled somewhere around book six. I love Cherryh, and that particular series (though I like Chanur and Cyteen better), there's just a certain threshold where I get tired of the same characters.

Next time around, I will read one or two, and take a break, read some light non-fic or something, then do the next one or two.

I think I am three books behind; but I am finding plenty to read without paying for new contemporary novels.

Still reading Punk Rock: An Oral History... this is more Dngrswife's read than mine, so it's a bit of a slog for me.

Well, that was a fun romp through Norse mythology. Most enjoyable.

Next up: Fantasy Magazine #2, part of my kickstarter bundle.

Two more books completed:

"A River in the Sky", by Elizabeth Peters; the 19th and final book in the "Amelia Peabody" series of Egyptological mysteries. This book goes back in time to 1910 to describe the events when the Emersons spent the excavating season in Palestine, rather than their beloved Egypt. Extremely enjoyable. I'm really sad to have reached the end of this series, although slightly consoled by the thought that a final posthumous book, "The Painted Queen", is being released in July next year. I don't know if Elizabeth Peters finished it before her death, or if it's been completed by someone else.

"The Wizardry Cursed", by Rick Cook; the third book in the "Wiz Biz" series, and the first half of Baen's "Cursed and Consulted" omnibus. Very good indeed.

Which was OK. Some I liked, some I didn't. Not as fun for me as the first issue.

Then I read Sharp's Trafalgar by Bernard Cornwall. I'm really enjoying this series.

And now: The Steerswoman by Rosemary Kirstein. This has been recommended by some people here, so I decided to give it a go.

Yes, excellent series. FWIW, the Audible versions are very well read.

One of my favourite series. Intelligent, strong female protragonists, and an interesting concept. I think you'll enjoy it.

Phew, I just finished up The Crippled God last night, book 10 (and last) in the Malazan: Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson.

It was a good read and I highly recommend the series overall for those that like epic fantasy. Epic is definitely an appropriate word with the massive world building, various magics, massive cast of characters, etc. You do get thrown into the middle with book 1 and its neat to see a small thing in book 3 become a big thing by book 9 or 10.

I'm going to miss this series as I have been reading it for the past year (with breaks in-between).

Next up, either Seveneves by Neal Stephenson or Aurora by Kim Stanley Robinson.

Just finished "Mystery Mile" by Margery Allingham, the 2nd book in the "Campion" series (actually the first book proper: Campion was a minor character in the first book, "The Crime at Black Dudley").

Crossing the Atlantic on the luxurious liner Elephantine are an American judge, Crowdy Lobbett, and his children. A number of people around Judge Lobbett have been murdered, and he is said to be fleeing to England for safety. Apparent buffoon Albert Campion offers the family sanctuary with his friends in remote Suffolk, but a local commits suicide, the Judge vanishes, and another disappearance follows soon after. What is the Judge's mysterious secret? How was he kidnapped from a remote maze? Can Campion and his friends get to the bottom of things before it's too late?

More of an adventure story than a detective novel in the "classical" tradition. Very enjoyable.

Next up, Dog Warrior, the 4th book in Wen Spencer's Ukiah Oregon series. Though it has been so long since I read the third book in the series, I may drop back and read it first. We'll see.

Meanwhile, finished listening to Sharpe's Rifles, #6 in the Richard Sharpe series from Bernard Cornwell. Definitely going to read more of them!
Finished Dog Warrior, after first re-reading #3 in the series, Bitter Waters. Then got totally sidetracked by a new (to me) series, the Charlie Fox series from Zoe Sharp. The first book in the series is: Killer Instinct, and it's a very promising first novel indeed. Part of an omnibus edition: A Triple Shot of Charlie Fox for the quite reasonable price of $7.99. I really liked the first book, though it had a few rough spots. For a first novel? Very promising indeed. I'm going to give the second one, Riot Act a try next.

Just finished "Crooked Man" by Tony Dunbar (Tubby Dubonnet #1). A fast-paced, quick read, good on atmosphere (New Orleans) - and a freebie - the other books are very nicely priced . On to Tubby Dubonnet #2 "City of Beads"

I see that Ursula Le Guin's The Left Hand of Darkness is finally available as an ebook in the US. It would be presumptuous to recommend this classic, but I do anyway.

Finished "City of Beads" (Tubby Dubonnet # 2), which I enjoyed as much as "Crooked Man". On to "Trick Question". I feel like I'm eating honey-roasted peanuts; tasty but probably not good-for-you, but I just can't seem to stop

Started with Red Hood: The Hunt by Erik Schubach. Quite a nice LGBT Fairy Tale Started two days ago and should finish it today.

So far I'm enjoying it, but have found that the plot sometimes disappears and is replaced with a similar plot with small changes made to the original plot. Case in point, Daria and Red Hood (the two main characters), Daria fantasize about Red hood, and the next page their a couple. Or Daria, you're told is a Pure Blood, but then halfway thru the book she can transform, yet you're not told how.

Slow Burn: A Zombie Apocalypse by Bobby Adair
Up to (Book 5): Torrent, two more books to go in the series

Mostly read sci-fi but got into Zombies after seeing a movie about Zombies featuring Woody Harrelson, Zombieland, it was such good fun I decided to try reading a Zombie ebook or two !

Slow burn is full on action, as in 'The Perils of Pauline' but much darker and never boring
The main character appeals to me (as an aging ex boy scout), coping with every danger and drama
The other characters are well developed and interesting
The author keeps the pressure up and moving along at a rapid pace for book after book

I don't read for long periods of time but dip into it for an hour or so nearly everyday
It's kept me amused for a while !
